Angels Camp, CA....As the pace of Economic Development discussion picks up one question that seems to come up repeatedly is if a company moves up here where would they go. Well there more options than someone might initially think. For example the Utica Hotel in historic downtown Angels Camp. While the optimum use of this property would be for it to be upgraded into a showcase, art deco era hotel a good intermediate might be as an office space. You could maintain the historic facade lease out the retail space and still be able to easily house 50-100 for a Tech or R&D facility in the hotel portion. When speaking with David Hanham, Planning Director for Angels Camp they would be very excited to help with a company moving to the facility and structure it so it would be cost effective.

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte hosted "Play it Forward" at their home opener against Argonaut on Wednesday. The score of the game didn't go their way on Wednesday but almost everything else did. “Mister October” made a March appearance after traveling all the way from Tampa Florida to attend. Reggie Jackson sat in place of Alex Marshall, a Bret Harte player who, together with his younger sister Macaila, died in early February. Reggie Jackson is a longtime friend of Alex's and Macaila's Mother, Seanie Marshall's goal ws to bring the community together with an old school baseball theme and raise money for Bret Hart programs and say thank you to the community for their support...

Federlein Family Fund Donates to Calaveras Community Foundation

Angels Camp, CA..Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has been the recipient of over $63,000 in the past three years from The Federlein Family Fund at the San Francisco Foundation specifically to benefit area seniors. An additional generous grant of $15,000 received earlier this year has jump started CCF’s 2013 fundraising efforts and will support our ongoing senior initiative....

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Volunteers Earn Their Stripes

San Andreas, CA...During the March meeting of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit, four volunteers were presented with service stripes by Volunteer Captain Don Crouch. One service stripe is awarded for each two years of service. Receiving awards are David Aguilar and Ed Evans for two years of service, Al DeMott and Ross Sheely for fours of service. Volunteers assist the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department in a wide range of activities including staffing substations, patrol residential areas, businesses, schools and parks and crowd control at community events....

New Melones Lake Weekly Fishing Report from Glory Hole Sports

Angels Camp, CA...New Melones Report. Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,573,753 acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped close to one foot this week, and is currently at 1011 ft. above sea level and 76 ft. from full. Water temperature warmed a little, average is 52-54 degrees with some parts of the lake warming to 58-60 degrees in the afternoon. The lake is clear, to slightly stained with some debris floating on the surface. The lake has turned over....
This week local angler John Martin caught a double digit fish, a 10.07 pound largemouth. He was fishing upriver when this fish crushed a swim bait.
