Rabobank, Main St. Angels Camp, CA...Local luminaries were in attendance, as well as a full house for the hospitality, food, drink, and just plain fun, as Rabobank hosted this month's Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce mixer. Rabobank is a new member of the local business community, and happy to be a part of Angels Camp. Murphys, CA...Murphys resident Kenneth Orrin Randall died Friday at his home. He was 79. Born in Martinez, he was a teacher at Bret Harte Union High School for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Angels Camp. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Randall, of Murphys; children, Teresa and husband Doug Carr, of Oakland, Catherine Ponsano, of Sacramento, Peggy Randall, of Los Osos, Molly and husband Jon Dickerson, of Virginia, and Timothy and wife Therese Randall, of Angels Camp; brother, Donald Randall, of Murphys; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.... |

Calaveras County, CA.....Wow, what a year it has been! Since the Adoption Center opened last February in the CHS Thrift Store in Arnold, 73 cats have been adopted. That is 73 cats in 42 weeks. Many of these cats were ADULTS ! And those 73 cats account for over 28% of the 255 cats saved by CHS from the County shelter in 2010. In addition to adopting out cats, we give out CHS spay/neuter vouchers, hand out pet care information, display photos and bios of the dogs AND cats available at the County shelter and through CHS foster care and generally educate the public about CHS. .....

Calaveras County Search and Rescue (CCSAR) wants you! Our team has about 30 active volunteers ranging in age from 20 to 70 years old. These men and women come from all walks of life (firemen, law enforcement officers, retirees, nurses, white and blue collar workers, etc.), and have varied individual skills. But the common denominator among them all is a love of the outdoors and the desire to help people. .....

In Loving Memory of Richard Neil Butler, 1926~2011 |

Murphys, CA...Richard Neil Butler has so sadly passed away on January 20th, 2011. He was a resident of Murphys for 53 years and previously lived in Greenfield, Iowa. Richard was the Principal of Bret Harte Union High School in Angels Camp from 1976 to 1985, and was a teacher for 35 years. He was also a member of the Simpson College Sports Hall of Fame in Indianola, Iowa. Mr., Butler was the recipient of The Freedom Foundation of Valley Forge Classroom Teachers medal, played professional baseball in Topeka Kansas and Miami, OK in the K.O.M., K.S. and Western Assoc. Leagues. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine Butler of Murphys; a son, David Butler of Lincoln, CA; and Four grandchildren..... |
