Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp City Council is expected to select a new Angels Camp Mayor to replace the late Jack Boeding. Mayor Pro Tem Jack Lynch will be presiding over the meeting. The election of a new mayor is the largest item on the agenda for tomorrow night. Also will be discussed is the Gymnasium Entryway for the Mark Twain Elementary School. Before the council is a agenda item to rename the entryway & road into Mark Twain Gymnasium...

Brian Kirk Named as CAL Fire Unit Chief |

San Andreas, CA...The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) announces the retirement of Mike Noonan as Unit Chief, effective July 2011. Brian Kirk was named Unit Chief and started August 1, 2011. Brian has over 29 years in the fire service. He began his career in El Dorado County in 1982 as a volunteer firefighter at the Cameron Park Fire Department. He then worked as a Firefighter, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Captain Paramedic and Fire Marshal for Cameron Park when he started with CAL FIRE through a Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement. He has held Battalion Chief positions in the Camino Emergency Command Center and Amador County. Until this appointment, Brian was the Assistant Chief for the Amador-El Dorado-Sacramento-Alpine Unit’s Southern Division in Amador County....

Angels Camp, CA....On Wednesday evening, September 21st, the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair voted unanimously to take over operation of the Calaveras County Fairgrounds and the 2012 Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, effective January 1st, 2012. At the September Friends of the Fair Board meeting a unanimous decision was reached by the Directors to take over the operation and management of the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, including the annual four day Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. This decision was made state funding for California Fairs.....
