Angels Camp, CA...Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,942,104 acre-feet of water. The lake level did not fluctuate much this week and is currently at 1047 ft. above sea level and 41 ft. from full. Levels will continue to drop, as room needs to be made to accommodate upcoming winter rains. Water temperature is really dropping now, and is currently 60-63 degrees. The lake will "turn over" when surface water cools to the same temp as the deeper water- around 53-54 degrees. This usually happens around Thanksgiving, and then the trout bite really turns on for bank-anglers and trollers alike....

Bear Valley, CA...CHP and Caltrans have closed Hwys 4 & 108 as one of the first real winter storm systems rolls through. The forecast that follows is for Bear Valley...Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 19. Breezy, with a southwest wind 21 to 24 mph decreasing to between 13 and 16 mph. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Friday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. West southwest wind between 9 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected...

Bret Harte Takes Mother Lode League Volleyball Title....Updated with Video

Angels Camp, CA...Updated Nov 3rd...Now there are video clips enclosed as well. It was another epic battle between Calaveras & Bret Harte last night. On the line was the Mother Lode League title in Volleyball. Both teams played incredibly well with some points becoming endless battles with each side refusing to cede the point. Great effort by the girls and a great match to watch. The 3-2 match win gave Bret Harte sole possession of the MLL title with Argonaut winning last night as well they slipped into second place in league and Calaveras officially finished third. A Calaveras win would have knotted all three teams at 11-4 for the year. We have video and photos coming soon! Congratulations Girls on both teams. It was an honor to watch the battle!!!
