Two Artists Scholarships Awarded by Calaveras Arts Council

Calaveras County, CA....Two scholarships totaling $1,750 have been awarded to high school seniors who will be pursuing the arts in college. The non-profit Calaveras Arts Council made the announcement following a process that began earlier this year to encourage lifelong involvement in the arts and to reward outstanding artistic talent......

Angels Camp, CA....Mark Twain Elementary Graduated 123 8th Grade Students on June 4th as they get ready to move on to their high school years. We would like to express our congratulations to the Class of 2008. Kaylee Sedler perfomed the Pledge of Allegiance along with the Welcome. The National Anthem was sung by Brianna Preston and Lauren Lane. Thomas Gomes Proudly did the Salutarian Address as Justice Rasmussen and Solishio Andico perfomed the Valedictorian Address. Mr. Karl Keller presented the Class of 2008. The Graduation list is enclosed....

Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp Planning Commission is back in action Thursday eve at 6pm at the City of Angels Fire House. They will be having their Annual election of Chair and Vice Chair to serve for the 2008/09 Fiscal Year; A Public Hearing to discuss Visitor Accomodation uses in Single Family residential zoning districts; Large Format retail draft developement guidelines commission discussion on the Joint City Council/Planning Commission workshop that was held on June 3rd; There will also be a presentation to Roger Neuman upon his retirement from the Planning Commission. The Kids Were Having Fun in Tuttletown on Saturday! We have Pictures and We Have Video

Tuttletown, CA....On Saturday morning, bright and early, we ventured across the bridge to Tuolumne County where the Tuttletown Recreation Area was playing host to the Annual Fun Fishing Day for Kids hosted by the CAST for Kids Foundation. This event is held for disabled or disadvantaged children between the ages of 5~16. Eleven local skippers brought out their boats to take the kids fishing and the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department was also on had to take kids on boat rides. Numerous organizations were on hand to make sure the kids had a great day. They could even get their picture taken and mounted on a plaque for free. The Arnold Rotary Club had a great gold panning booth and there was even a snake exhibit for the kids....

"The Tipsy Chicks" of Arnold Take Home Viewers Choice Award at Ironstone Vineyards BBQ Competition! Pictures & Video Enclosed

Murphys, CA...Ironstone Vineyards put on another great event on Sunday! They held their 2nd Annual BBQ Competition which was hosted by Executive Chef James Lehman. There were approximately 22 teams vying for the BBQ Queens and Kings of the Weber for the Day! "The Tipsy Chicks", a team of gals from Arnold, took home the "Viewers Choice" Competition. For pork butt, "Pork Purveyors" of Murphys takes it, baby back ribs goes to "Spoke Benders" of Vacaville, and beef brisket, "Team Ramirez" from Tracy, CA. The judging was done by James and 8 Blind Judges, whom were also local food connoisseur's. There were three judges for each category. The categories were Best of Beef Brisket, Best of Pork Baby Back Ribs, Best of Pork Butt and Viewers Choice....

Angels Camp, CA....If you did not have a chance to attend or catch our "Live" streaming of the Economic Summit that took place on Friday, we now have the replay up for your viewing pleasure.....The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, together with the County of Calaveras and the City of Angels sponsored the 1st Annual Calaveras County Economic Revitalization Summit, a first time historic event, and the beginning of a county-wide ongoing design process. After months of planning, just over 150 of the best and brightest of our local minds met, strategized, planned, broke bread together and listened to some great speakers. It was an all day event starting with the first speaker, Steve Art ,who is the economic development director for Lincoln CA. In recent years Lincoln was one of the fastest growing cities in the US....
