Ret. electrical engineer who worked for Lockheed Martin for 30 years. Marvin was a member of the LDS Church in Murphys, CA, and a Vietnam Veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Air Force....

Angels Camp, CA...As the holidays officially wind down and life gets back to normal for everyone in 2012 we though we would post our last Christmas Piece. Christmas weekend had church after church in our area filled to the brim with Calaveras County residents an visitors getting in the Christmas spirit. We happened to stop by Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp. The music was great as were the inspirational pieces by Pastor David Mattson...

Angels Camp, CA....The History of Angels Camp & the Centennial Celebrations Plans for 2012! The Angels Camp Museum will present as part of their new lecture series a symposium on the history of Angels Camp by noted local historian Judith Marvin. 2012 is the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Angels Camp into the City of Angels in 1912. Following her talk there will be a brief review of the centennial celebration events planned for the year to commemorate the anniversary from an antique car rally and old-fashioned July 4th celebration to the large anniversary celebration.....

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,971,373 acre-feet of water. The lake level has been steady and slowly rising for the last few weeks. It is currently at 1050 ft. above sea level and 38 ft. from full. Water temperature is really dropping now, and is currently 53-55 degrees. The lake seems to have turned over, by the great trout fishing we have seen this week....

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis native Ella Louise McCarty-Hiatt died peacefully December 23 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Ella was 96 yrs old. Ella was born in Salt Spring Valley, the daughter of Jackson Dean and Helen (Hunt) McCarty, Granddaughter of Thomas and Agnes (Dean) McCarty, Founder of Copperopolis and sister to 7 siblings that have all preceded her in death. Ella grew up in Salt Spring Valley, attended the Salt Spring Valley School and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1932....

Juveniles and Young Adult Arrested in Angels Camp Vandalism

angels Camp, CA...On the evening of Saturday, 12-10-11, a vandalism spree occurred in Angels Camp, where a total of twelve victims had windows on either their cars or homes broken by a projectile that was believed to have been fired at the windows with a sling shot. In the original press release there were nine victims reported, but over the course of several days after the initial report, three additional victims came forward. The total loss in these cases is estimated to be approximately $6,100.00...
