Angels Camp, CA....The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation has donated $27,000 to the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program – almost 70% of the program’s budget – in the Foundation’s first year as 501c3 nonprofit organization. The 2011 Calaveras Follies (April 16) raised an impressive $23,500 for the mentoring program, which was presented to the program by the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation board this week. O.A.R.S.’ annual Mokelumne River Rafting Adventure (June 5) was another successful fundraiser for the Foundation this year. .....

WILLY WONKA/CANDY MAN Willy Wonka is an enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but also charismatic. There are a number of directions to take with Wonka, ranging from Gene Wilder’s version in the original film, to Johnny Depp’s portrayal in the recent film, and everything in between. He is charismatic, engaging and has a great voice. The actor should be able to be funny and serious and change between the two on a dime. It is preferred that Wonka double as the Candy Man, as it helps reinforce that Wonka has staged the Golden Ticket competition and is somewhat controlling this contest along the way.....

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 2,099,274 acre-feet of water. The lake level rose three this week and is currently at 1064 ft. above sea level and 24 ft. from full capacity. Water temperature is 69-72 degrees. Water is fairly clear. Watch for floating debris and unmarked island tops. Trout: With the kokanee action so hot, few anglers are targeting trout, but we are seeing the occasional rainbow thrown in with a limit of kokanee. If you wish to target trout, fish 35-45 feet deep over deepest water in the main lake with shad-patterned lures such as Excel, Apex, Needlefish, or Rapala ......
