San Andreas, CA...After conducting a thorough review of its revenue and expense requirements, the Calaveras County Water District is proposing a five-year water and wastewater rate change for all residential and commercial customers. The proposal will be considered by the District’s Board of Directors at a Public Hearing on July 10, 2013, and if approved, the rate change will be effective September 1, 2013....

Angels Camp, CA...This newly published book is titled, "The Sights and History of Arnold, Murphys and "Copper", and covers the history of Calaveras (south half) County from about 8,000 B.C. to today. An entire chapter is devfoted to the activities of our local indians. Then it jumps into the history of the first village that one would visit as they enter the county from the west, Telegraph City. Yes, it's just a ghost town today, but you'll see a picture of the Parks mansion which burned to the ground in 1921. It was a beauty! The foundations are still there for you to see...

San Andreas, CA...The following items and more are on the Preliminary for the day...Approve a MINUTE ORDER: 1) Authorizing the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to sign an Agreement for after-hours mental health crisis evaluation and intervention services with Rolan H. Dillard for $52,000 for the period of May 28, 2013 through June 30, 2014; and 2) Authorizing the Health Services Agency Director to sign subsequent amendments to these Agreements; Behavioral Health – Board action: Adopt a MINUTE ORDER that Approves a Contract with the City of Angels Camp in the amount of $392,892 for Municipal Law Enforcement Services from July 1st, 2013 to June 30th, 2016; Sheriff – Board action..

Angels Camp, CA....Jay E. Quick of Angels Camp passed away peacefully in Modesto with family by his side on 5/21/13 at the age of 82. He was born in Drexel Hill Pennsylvania on 12/11/30 to May & Guy Quick Sr. He has called Calaveras County his home for the past 35 years. Jay and his “Child Bride” Clayre were married in August 18, 1961. They were happily married for 51 years....

Angels Camp, CA....The Tower Family was honored for their contributions at the ribbon cutting ceremony to get the fair officially underway on Thursday. Local veterans were also honored with quilts. We have video and photos from Lydia Stafford as well....
