San Andreas, CA...On May 23rd the gym and Calaveras River Academy & Mountain Oaks School was filled with our best and brightest young minds for the 2013 Mini-Math Bowl. Full Results are enclosed and Pics from CCOE and Jerry Middleton are below.

Angels Camp, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's NEW Thrift Store Cat Adoption Center in Angels Camp, located in Angels Town Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), between Save Mart Supermarket and Rite Aid. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. This is a fresh, new location and we're hoping it will be the beginning of something wonderful for homeless kitties, as well as the entire community! Adorable Polly (shown) will be there and we will have several other kittens and cats available to meet you. Come on in and check out the new adoption center, meet some cute and cuddly kitties, and browse the new thrift store while you're there. This new adoption center is opening for the very first time this week, so this is a special week and we'd love to see you there!

Murphys, CA...A 49 year old Angels Camp man sustained minor injuries in a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon on Hwy 4. A 59 year old Murphys Man was driving his 1994 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Hwy 4 west of Pennsylvania Gulch Road preparing to turn right. Angels Camp, CA..The Grand Opening of Veronica's Princess and the Pea Party Room was held on Thursday, May 16. The opening ceremony and ribbon cutting was after the annual Fair Children's Parade. Angels Camp's Vice Mayor, Jack Lynch, officiated, as did the new business owner, Veronica Stow, and 'Princess Pia'. Princess and the Pea Party Room is designed to cater to 'princesses' of all ages with fantasy parties designed especially for them. The Party Room is beautifully decorated and is stocked with regal furniture, crystal, china, tiaras, fanciful costumes, and all sorts of other things that make for a real princess party. SONORA, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation announces spring recreation area openings and changes to gate closure times at New Melones Lake. Effective Thursday, May 23, most recreation facilities at New Melones Lake will be open for public use including: All campgrounds will open with the exception of Chamise Campground in the Tuttletown Recreation Area, which will remain closed until further notice due to necessary infrastructure repairs. San Andreas, CA...For over two decades, Calaveras Arts Council has hosted free summer concerts. Music in the Parks 2013 will be another great music series. The first day of summer starts a week earlier in Calaveras County. On Wednesday, June 12, the Calaveras Arts Council begins its 22nd year of providing free music in the county parks from Copperopolis to Arnold, and Valley Springs to Rail Road Flat. This fun fill musical road show is called Music in the Parks. Residents and visitors pack up their favorite picnic treats, pull together their lawn chairs and blankets, and set out for ten weeks of great music, family friendly environments, and kick back to savor the experience....
