Calaveras County, known for fine wine, caves, big trees, lakes, rivers and quaint Gold Rush towns, is also world renowned for our famous, jumping frogs. We celebrate this delightful peculiarity at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, which this year takes place May 16-19. You may ask, how did it all start? And why do we jump frogs?

Angels Camp, CA...On April 13th the Bret Harte Campus's age demographic skewed down just a bit. The Annual Children's Fair sponsored by The Resource Connection was back and had all sorts of activities and information for our areas younger residents. Attendance was Free and there was a Kid's Farmer's Market, Arts and Crafts, Outdoor Activities, Entertainment, Snacks and Food and much more. Below are some photos of what you missed....

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Home & Garden Show is this weekend at Frogtown. It will be filled with a wide variety of local businesses just waiting to help you with your next project. We stopped by the Tuolumne County Home and Garden Show on April 13th to see how their show was progressing. The crowds were large and happy and Calaveras County's businesses were some of the largest exhibitors with Middleton's, Pinnells Airserve, Carpet One, Calaveras Lumber and more on hand and selling. So don't miss the Calaveras Show April 27 & 28th this weekend at Frogtown!!!!

Angels Camp, CA...On April 11 the Angels Camp Museum's Lecture Series kicked, bucked, branded, herded and calved it's way into a packed house to discuss the rich ranching history here in the county. Members of families with names that may be more familiar to some of you as names of local roads were on hand to tell their families histories that are intertwined and inseparable from the history of Calaveras County.

On April 8th a good sized crowd was on hand for a joint workshop being organized by Angels Camp Business Association and Destination Angels Camp on The 20 Ingredients of an Outstanding Downtown. Things such as "Parklets" where you allow a business to beautify and use some of their sidewalk space for outdoor seating were discussed and help downtown areas become recreating places for visitors and locals alike...
