City Angels Camp Water Update~By Mary Kelly

The City of Angels Camp will be shutting off water to the City on May 12th beginning at 9:00 p.m. for approximately 9 hours. A recent inspection revealed that the main water line into the City is in immediate danger of failing. The City will be shutting down the old main line and connecting to the new line water distribution system. After service is restored, normal water usage may be resumed EXCEPT for drinking and cooking. Use bottled or boiled water for consumption....

3rd Annual Academic Awards Night at Bret Harte High School Was Held Tonight ~By Hanna Heath

Angels Camp, CA.... "Life is my college. May I graduate well and earn some honors," - Louisa May Alcott. Scholarly students from Bret Harte High School attended the third annual academic awards night. Students who received the Record Pinnacle Award and or CSF Award received a metal. Students who were top ten in their class received a plaque and a Bret Harte lettermen. Scoring high on academic tests and classes along with extra curricular activities were just a few programs the following students were involved with.........

The City of Angels Camp is replacing approximate 1700 feet of water main. On May 12, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. the city will be shutting down the old main line and connecting the new line water distribution system this activity could take up to 9 hours. During this time period No Water will be available for community use from the city’s Surface Water Treatment plant. Low water pressure or outages may occur and could potentially cause temporary bacterial contamination...

Angels Camp, CA....Sign-ups for football players and cheerleaders for the 2008/09 season will be on Tuesday, May 20th at the Mark Twain MPR from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Sign-ups are open to all boys and girls ages 10-14 on or before December 1, 2007. A copy of a certificate of live birth is required. The deadline for football applications is July 31st, and the deadline for cheerleaders is June 15th.......

Angels Camp, CA....The Annual Angels Camp Triathlon, hosted by On Your Mark Events will be held this Saturday, May 10th. Check in and race day registration opens at 7am. Event start time is 8:30am. The athletes will be competing in a 1000 yard swim, 16 mile bike ride and a 4 mile run. The Triathlon will take place at New Melones Reservoir Glory Hole Entrance.....

Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise Candidates Night for District 4 Packs the House!

Murphys, CA....Native Sons Hall of Murphys was the place to be tonight for the Supervisor Candidates District 4 Night. The Hall was packed with community members trying to decide who they want representing them in their District. Present were Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. This event event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Calaveras Enterprise. Each Candidate was asked questions by Moderator, Buzz Eggleston, Editor of the Calaveras Enterprise. The audience also participated in questions for the hopeful candidates. The evening started at 6:30pm and ran until about 8:30pm. The next Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall for District I Supervisor. Present will be Zerrall McDaniel, Gary Toffanelli and Kathy Mazzaferro. As we get closer to election day the candidates are starting to define their positions in clearer terms. We will be posting some excerpt clips of some of the sharper exchanges in a separate piece.
