New Melones Fishing Report from Glory Hole Sports

Angels Camp, CA...New Melones Fishing Report for this week. Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,275,544 acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped two feet this week, and is currently at 978 ft. above sea level and 109 ft. from full. The average water temperature is a very warm 72-80 degrees. The lake is stained with mud lines forming near the shore in the afternoon.

Glory Hole Sports employee Bradley Girard and his friends Timmy and Amy caught a nice limit of trout. They caught them from shore using worms and Panther Martins.

George David Pollock 1928 - 2013

Angels Camp, CA...At his request, no services will be held for George David Pollock, 85, who died June 14, 2013 at his residence, Foothill Village, Angels Camp. He lived here in Calaveras County since building his mountain home in Avery in 1959 and moved here in 1969 from San Francisco. He worked as a window washer on some of the tallest buildings in the city. He worked on several projects such as the construction of the Spicers Dam and Melones Dam. George served in the US Navy and crewed on the USS Henderson as a gunners mate. He was honorably discharged in 1947 as Seaman 2nd Class and received a commendation from President Harry S Truman...

Pearl Mary Cosgrave 1921-2013

Altaville, CA...Pearl Mary Cosgrave, 91 of Altaville died of natural causes on June 20, 2013 in San Andreas, CA. Pearl was born on December 17, 1921 in Angels Camp. The youngest of 3 children of Adelina and Gerolamo Giusto she attended Altaville Grammar School, and Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp and Humphreys College in Stockton. In 1941 she married David E. Cosgrave of Altaville. Pearl and Dave lived their life on the Cosgrave Ranch outside of Altaville. Pearl is survived by her Children David N. Cosgrave (Mary Jane) of Angels Camp, Diana Lewis (Ron) of Angels Camp, and Lauren Ann Hill (Walter) of Knoxville, TN, 4 grand children and 5 great grand children. She is preceded in death by her parents Adelina and Gerolamo Giusto and her husband David E. Cosgrave and her brothers Nick and John Giusto...

Copperopolis, CA...In the olden days, a farmer growing corn would save a portion of the harvest as seed corn to plant next year. He didn’t have to do this; he could eat the seed corn. But, if he ate the seed corn, there would be no crop next year and the family would suffer.
