Rotarians Play Santa to 200 Families |

San Andreas, CA...Angels-Murphys Rotary Club and the West Calaveras Rotary Club got together to pack and deliver turkeys and food to about 200 low-income seniors, individuals and families in Calaveras County. “Many of our home-bound seniors and families who find it difficult to get down to the Food Bank will be served today,” said Jeannie Hayward, director of The Resource Connection Food Bank. “This will alleviate the number of cars coming through on December 20th – our Santa’s Express Distribution Day. I know many of these families are so grateful for the fact that our local Rotarians take the time to deliver the Santa’s Express food baskets to them. Along with the Rotarians and their families, volunteers from Sierra Ridge Rite of Passage came to help as well...

The Salvation Army and Their Red Kettles Are Helping Here At Home |

San Andreas, CA...You see them every year at this time – the bright red kettles of the Salvation Army – often accompanied by a volunteer ringing a bell. You see them in most cities and counties, including in our own Calaveras County. But many residents are unaware there is a Salvation Army Service Extension Unit right here in San Andreas. The Calaveras County Service Extension Unit of the Salvation Army is made up of a 10-person board of volunteers plus a field representative advisor from the Salvation Army. Because we are not large enough to have a Salvation Army Corps Center, we are invisible and most residents do not know we offer assistance year-round to those in need....

The new league is Bret Harte Little League. This was done for the following reasons: To create a greater sense of community in our new league. Ultimately, most of your children will end up at Bret Harte High School. Both Boards from the former EPLL and CALL leagues believed that we should help foster a larger community perspective in our organization as a way to help the kids get to know each other..
