FIRE NEWS.....Crews are Responding to a Vegetation Fire in Angels Camp at Purdy Road

Angels Camp, CA....A Vegetation fire is being reported at Purdy Road in Angels Camp. Crews are responding. Updates to follow as needed. UPDATE as of 3:47pm, just spoke with CAL Fire's Lisa William's, they have two engines on scene. Very small fire under control. Great job!

Angels Camp Police Department Is Looking for Any Information on Missing Person

Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp Police Department is asking the public for help in locating a missing person, Roger Wallace Sheltrown. Sheltrown was last seen in Angels Camp on October 31, 1995. Sheltrown is a white male 5’11”, 150 lbs., brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo on his right wrist of barbed wire with flames and an unknown tattoo on his left hand....

Angels Camp City Council Names Old Hwy 4 "Vallecito Road, Decreases City Water Rates and More~by Kim Hamilton (Updated wth Photo)

Angels Camp, CA...It was another long meeting for the Angels Camp City Council on Tuesday Eve. They started out the meeting with a Closed Session for Planning Commissioner interviews. Then proceeded onto the Regular meeting after that. New Planning Commissioner is Harold Cullich of Greenhorn Creek. Congratulations Harold! The item of most interest was the renaming of Old Hwy 4 which will be the section of Hwy 4 from Vintage Realty to where it meets the new bypass. Old Hwy 4 will become Vallecito Road. This has some historical significance as parts of this road were and still are referred to as Vallecito Road....

Angels Camp, CA....The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association held their second Tea Party on July 4th at Utica Park. The first protest hosted in April centered on awareness and the Tea Party movement, this time around the focus shifted to Education. At the 4th of July Tea Party they had numerous speakers and video presentations.....

Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels Camp, CA announced today that plans are underway to celebrate the newly constructed State Route between Angels Camp, CA and Murphys, CA. Several local and state entities, including the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Teichert Construction, Inc., the Calaveras Council of Governments (CCOG) and the City of Angels Camp are working closely together on a ribbon cutting ceremony for July 22, 2009....

Busy Agenda for the Angels Camp City Council Meeting Planned for Tuesday July 7th

Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp City Council is back in action Tuesday, July 7th at 4pm, starting with Closed Sessions. They will then reconvene at 5:30pm with consideration of Abatement of the Lode Hotel a continued item from June 2, 2009 meeting. City Staff will continue to monitor the owner's progress towards compliance with the Abatement Order of 12/08; At 5:45pm, Planning Commission Interviews will take place. The regular meeting will begin at 6pm. Some of the agenda items being discussed will be a Resolution approving the submission of a CDBG application for a Wayfinding Plan for the Angels Camp downtown commercial district; Update and process for administering HCD Facade Grant; A Public Hearing for name change of portion of Hwy 4 near bypass; A Public Hearing on Greenhorn Creek Landscaping and Lighting District; Approval of 2009/2010 tentative budget; Request to UPA for repayment of $55.000 for Darby Fire expenses; Angels Camp Bypass Opening Ceremonies and more. Angels Camp, CA...With Fathers Day just a couple of weeks ago, I thought it appropriate to take time and reflect on fathers. Having grown up in a broken home, I understand the importance of the father’s roll in the family and having five children makes me understand how hard it is to be a father in the times we are living. As we look at our society and read the statistics on fathers it becomes evident that there is a problem with many fathers today. I believe that it is time for us who are fathers, to become redeemed fathers...
