New Melones Lake Fishing Report~by Glory Hole Sports

Trout: bank angling at Melones is done for the season- head to local creeks, or better yet, to higher elevation lakes such as Alpine or Spicer. Night fishing for trout under a light has started this week. Try dropping a submersible light 20 feet deep and fish 30-50 feet deep with a crawler or crawler/Powerbait combo. Mark Imperial and Ryan Gonzalez from Stockton have this method down to a science, including using the moon phases as well as hitting the creek channels at the right time to catch both their limits at 36 feet deep with......

TRAFFIC HAZARD....Hwy 4 Just West of Angels Camp

CHP is reporting a traffic hazard at Hwy 4 just west of Angels Camp. There is apparently an auto with equipment in the roadway. Please use caution if traveling in the area. Roadway clear at 2:20pm.

Angels Camp, CA...It's Election time for the Calaveras County Water District. This will be a mail only election and your ballots will be showing up in your mail soon. Our election preview is going to start off with Dist. 4 and then work the other Districts. The battle here is between Incumbent Ed Rich and challengers Diane Gray and Dennis Dooley. There are many challenges facing CCWD over the next few years. Good solid fresh and waste water treatment infrastructure is vital for the county's economic health. To lead the charge to celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy, the Calaveras Arts Council chose the Stardust Cowboys to be the featured artists at the fourth “Music in the Parks” free concert which will be Wednesday, July 15 “on the green” at Greenhorn Creek of Angels Camp. The start time is 6:30 pm. The actual date of National Day of the Cowboy is not until July 25 but the mission of the day is the same as the band’s: to contribute to the preservation of America’s Cowboy heritage so that the history and culture can be shared and perpetuated with the public. The Stardust Cowboys play a Western.....

The City Of Angels Nearing End of Water Main Project

The City of Angels is nearing the end of its water main project on Main Street. On the 15th & 16th of July there will be a shutdown of the old main and the tie in of the new main. This shut down is scheduled to start at 9:00 PM on the 15th and end at 7:00 AM on the 16th. The town will still have water but some areas might experience periods of low pressure. City Hall is asking everyone in the City’s water service area to turn off their outdoor irrigation on the night of Wednesday, July 15th to help maintain pressure to the entire water system. If you have any questions please contact City Hall at 736-2181 the Water Wastewater Treatment department at 736-2412 or our ON-CALL personnel at 768-9550.
