Recently the Kotowski family (Frank attends Bret Harte high school currently, Dad Rich & mom Lisa|) of Angels Camp traveled to Tulsa to attend Spartan college of Aeronautics & technology commencement ceremony for their son James, who graduated from Bret Harte High school, class of 2008. James received an Associate of Applied Science Avionics Maintenance Technology degree, December 18, 2009....

Calaveras County, CA....It feels like the 80's when yogurt shops were the craze...We have a self serve yogurt shop coming to Calaveras County! ScottsYogurtFactory, owned and operated by Greg Scott and family will open next to Subway in the Frogtown Shopping Center in Angels Camp on Valentines Day weekend. These new ever so popular self-serve style yogurt shops are popping up all over the US. They seem to be the recession proof craze!.....

The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, starring Nikolai Massenkoff, a world celebrated singer, along with a Balalaika ensemble and virtuoso musicians, and Russian folk ballet dancers, will perform at the Bret Harte Theatre in Angels Camp on January 10. The 3:00 pm matinee is presented by the Calaveras Arts Council as part of their winter performing arts series called Ovations. All seats in the theatre are assigned; tickets are $25 for adults; $10 for youth to 18, and can be purchased on-line at www.highsierratickets.com or by calling 209-296-5495.....

Local Barista Extraordinaire, Patrick Works told us about one supporting customer who had made her beverage purchase and came back to the store and gave over $200 dollars of Coffee for the Troops. Angels Camp, CA...State Representative Tom Berryhill was on hand at Camps Restaurant at noon today talking to the Calaveras County Republican Party at their December meeting. He was on hand to say thank-you for the support he has received from the Calaveras County area and talk about his run to fill retiring Senator Cogdill's seat. If he is successful in his run his new district will no longer cover Calaveras County. The surprise retirement of Senator Dave Cogdill has set off a fury of activity within the Republican party to position their minority chess pieces in the most effective manner. Outgoing State Senator Jeff Denham had been campaigning for the Lieutenant Governor position. In changing races it gives the Republican Party a very solid candidate with good statewide recognition and also paves the way for Governor Schwarzenegger's pick of Able Maldonado an easier run at election time...
