Frogtown, CA....Calaveras County Farm Bureau played Co-Host to Ag-Day 2010. The Calaveras County Farm Bureau along with the Calaveras County Fair Grounds held their Annual Ag-Day 2010 at Frogtown. This event is offered to the 4th and 5th grade students from the county. Lorey C. Oliver Manager of Calaveras County Farm Bureau stated "We organize and provided an educational opportunity to come; listen and be involved in hands on presentations from individuals working in the agricultural industries. It helps students make the understand how the products (every person uses every day in their lives) do not originate on store shelves. Calaveras County, CA....The young ladies who are running for Miss Calaveras or Saddle Queen will be joining Miss Calaveras 2009, Kayla Smith and, Saddle Queen 2009, Catheryn Gulizia, and their respective courts as the featured guests at this years Coronation Ball. Those ladies who once held the title of Miss Calaveras, Belle of the Camp or Saddle Queen have again been invited. Friendraiser at Hay Station Ranch a Big Crowd Pleaser!

Over 150 people gathered at the barn at the Kautz Family Ranch, Hay Station, on Saturday night to eat great grub, ride the mechanical bull and dance to the California Cowboys. As guests arrived they were given a colorful bandana. Some wore them on their hats, some as kerchiefs and one guest even pretended to be a bank robber. When Peggy Lucas, Executive Director of the Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, welcomed the guests, she noted, “ e’ve gone from the glitz and glamour of the organization’s 25th Anniversary and Dancing with the Sierra Stars in the ballroom at Ironstone, to hay and horses in the barn at Hay Station.“...

Miss Calaveras Contestants Announced

Angels Camp, CA.....Seven bright talented young women will be competing for the title of Miss Calaveras and a $1,000 scholarship. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the stage competition at the Calaveras County Fair. The Program offers more than $2,700 in scholarship monies for contestants. In April the seven contestants will begin a rigorous rehearsal schedule. They will be schooled in interview skills, etiquette, public speaking and talent. The competition comprises of four areas of focus, personal interview, health and fitness, evening gown and talent. Angels Camp, CA.....The Frogtown Arena will be kickin’ and spurin’ with excitement on Friday evening, May 14 starting with the grand entry featuring the 2010 Saddle Queen and her court. Two real western activities are scheduled for kids, the coin dig and boot scramble followed by the Calf Branding and Barrel Racing competitions. Then at 8:00 p.m. the real action begins. The Western Region Bull Riders Association is back with their exciting bull riding event. The young bull riders begin at age 3. Some young riders will compete in fifteen Bull Riding events throughout the year in various locations. At each event riders accumulate points to qualify for the Regional Finals. Ambulance Contracts Look Good To Go For another 5 years

San Andreas, CA...The focal point of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday was the study session on renewing the County's contract with it's existing providers. American Legion Ambulance Service and Ebbetts Pass Fire and Protection District look good to go for another 5 years. The study session was lightly attended which is in some ways a good straw poll that most of the public were comfortable enough that they could comfortably stay away and not have their voices heard. This isn't to say there weren't concerns earlier in the process that were heard at previous public meetings. Calaveras Home & Garden Show Only Week Away!

The Calaveras Home & Garden Show is one week away. There will be a Kid's Activity Center with Bounce House and Easter Egg Hunts. The Easter Egg Hunts will take place on Friday at 2:00 pm and Saturday, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Come visit the Vendors at the Home & Garden Show and get inspired for Spring. A 42" Samsung Plasma TV will be given away at the show on Saturday. Admission is Free and Parking is Free. Angels Camp, CA....On March 24, 2010 at approximately 1800 hours David P. Cline, 26 of Angels Camp was arrested in the 300 block of S Main St for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession and transportation of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
