Bret Harte High School is hosting an open house for current 8th grade students, and parents of students, who will be attending next year. This event will provide students and parents the opportunity to tour the campus, meet with teachers, learn more about elective choices available to freshman, and become familiar with courses and materials incoming students will encounter next year. ....

Angels Camp, CA...The new Delta Blood Bank location in Angels Camp hosted the monthly "Mingle Till You Tingle" Chamber Mixer. They have a beautiful new facility that even includes a community room that is available at no charge to groups of up to 40 who need a meeting facility. They had great food last night from The Angels Camp Mercantile. Politics was in the air last night as well. Now that we are in the heart of political season numerous candidates for local offices were on hand to press the flesh and raise their visibility quotient...

Angels Camp, CA....This week on "Reel Talk" Jeff Olson from Angels Camp Movie Theatre and I chat about the upcoming movies that are starting here today. This weeks big release is "CopOut" with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. "Shutter Island" is still the buzz as well with its rich story lines and nuanced characters. "A Single Man" is next weeks Independent Film Series presentation, "Avatar" in 3D is still rolling along, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians", "Valentines Day"" and "Alice in Wonderland" in 3D starts in Angels on March 5th. These round out your local movie choices and Reel Talk is enclosed...

Angels Camp, CA....Fairgoers will have the chance to “Rock their Beer Gut” with Big Vinnie, Butter, Crystal and the gang from Trailer Choir. The Country group with almost a Jimmy Buffet feel will be the Saturday Night Concert at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. Scheduled for May 15, the show will begin at 8:00 p.m. The Group’s album “Hillbilly off the Hook” has taken the country and pop music charts by storm. The choir toured extensively with Toby Keith and are signed to his record label. Their music was also featured in the film “Beer for my Horses”. Big Vinny also gives dance lessons on line at the trio’s website, trailerchoir.com......

Angels Camp, CA.....The hunt to find the great Mark Twain is on! Mark Twain left his name and memories spread throughout all of Calaveras County. Now, it's time to capture the fossils of his record in our county. Mark Twain was a scrap book fanatic. He kept scrap books and journals. Now it is your turn. Collect as many photos of Mark Twain-related objects in Calaveras County as you can and submit your image collection by Thursday, May 13th at 2:00pm to the Fairgrounds, and you could win $100. Judging will be held at 2:00pm on May 13th of the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, in the Tom Sawyer Hall.....

Felony Charges Being Filed Against Angels Camp Minor

Angels Camp, CA...CHP has updated the accident release on the injury accident involving several local youths that caused severe injuries to 16 year old Mycheila Rose from Angels Camp. The unnamed female juvenile will be charged with Felony DUI causing injury to another, Vehicle Theft, Driving without a license, Under 21, operating a vehicle carrying alcohol and Transporting an unrestrained passenger. We just spoke with Memorial Hospital and Mycheila is still in ICU. The release is enclosed...
