Angels Camp, CA...On Earth Day the rebate program for appliances kicked off. What better time than now to shop local! The State Relaase on the program follows..."SACRAMENTO - California consumers will soon be able to trade in their old refrigerators, clothes washing machines, and room air conditioners for new energy efficient models as they cash in on $35.2 million of federal stimulus rebates starting in April. The California Cash for Appliances rebate program will offer cash incentives to consumers to improve California's long-term energy efficiency goals....

Chief of Police, Dale Mendenhall's Contract Has Not Been Renewed |

Angels Camp, CA....Chief of Police, Dale Mendenhall, has been officially relieved of his duties by the City of Angels City Council. He was notified this morning by the City of Angels Camp City Council during a meeting. After performing Performance Evaluations, it was voted that due to to not renew his employment contract. It is speculated this is due to budget constraints. It has been reported that Chief Mendenhall's total compensation package was over $180k per year. No decision has been made yet on a replacement. Dale Mendenhall, 49, was named as the new Angels Camp Police Chief in December of 2007. Starting his new position in January of 2008. He and his .....

Student Cited for Possession of Marijuana at Mark Twain Elementary |

Angels Camp, CA....On April 16, 201, at approximately 8:00 am a parent reported the odor of marijuana on the grounds of Mark Twain Elementary School. A 14 year old student that was in the area was contacted by school officials. The students backpack was searched and the official located the marijuana. The student advised officers that he had stolen the marijuana from his mother who had a doctor’s recommendation for the drug. The student was issued a citation for possession of marijuana on school grounds and released to his mother.

Angels Camp, CA...If you would like to follow along the Angels Camp City Council Meeting we are live steaming now.. The Bret Harte Aquatic Center Connection Fees Item has been moved to the next scheduled City Council Meeting. Council Members conveyed that they had received additional information today that they had not had time to process yet. As of 6:23pm Tyler Summersett from the COG is holding the public hearing on unmet transit needs for the City.

Angels Camp, CA...Denise Ferrin suggested "Monty" as the name of the new Angels Camp "Base Camp", "Launching Pad for Adventures" rough and ready Frog Mascot. Greenhorn's Buck Reed, the head of the naming committee presented the prizes to Denise and led the discussion on the naming of Monty. The "Full Monty" will no doubt be one of the taglines as outdoor enthusiasts go all out in their recreational activities. Congrats to Denise as she walks away with Rafting Trips from O.A.R.S, Zip Line tickets from Moaning Caverns, Golf Lessons from Greenhorn Creek, Lift Tickets for Bear Valley, a backpack from Vintage Realty also included were gift certificates from Mountain Pedaler & Glory Hole Sports...

Altaville, CA....The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump will be held concurrently on Saturday, May 8 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire Department in Angels Camp. Twelve Applicants to Vie for Jr. Miss Calaveras County
The Junior Miss Calaveras competition is open to 8th grade girls in Calaveras county. The contestants are judged on beauty, personality, pleasantness and ticket sales by a panel of judges. The winner will be announced during the Junior Frog jump and she will be presented at the Calaveras County Fair the next week....
