Posted by: thepinetree on 11/03/2008 08:33 PM

Angels Camp, CA...For the last 27 years Clayton Rasmussen has been a fixture on the Bret Harte School District Board. Clayton was honored during a ceremony tonight at the Bret Harte Board Meeting. All of the board members and several members of the audience spoke to thank Clayton for his years of service. Since 1981 Mr. Rasmussen has according to his peers been a steady voice reminding all the board members that every decision they make should be viewed in the context of "Is this the best decision for the Kids?"...

San Andreas, CA...The second big item, besides the Murphys Hotel sign on the Board of Supervisors agenda on Tuesday, was the County's Official response to the Grand Jury Report. It was in many ways anticlimactic and expected. At the center of the report was the county's roll in the Community Development Agency mess of the last couple of years. That the County's official position would be to disagree with the Grand Jury Report was a foregone conclusion. It would be safe to say that the relative peace and quiet of the last few months from a controversy aspect has been a welcome development for everyone even if real development continues to languish. Murphys, CA...Last Saturday Morning Students & Measure K supporters met at Gold Country Coffee in Murphys to prepare their materials before they spread throughout the Bret Harte School District to canvas the neighborhoods drumming up support for the Measure K bond issue. In many ways the upperclassmen that have been working so hard for the passage of Measure K have been performing a community service. The biggest beneficiaries over the long hall will be our kids who have yet to wear the Purple & Gold like the young Measure K Advocates below.
Zachary Deaton, Zoe Deaton, Nicholas Kristoff, Elizabeth Kristoff, Abigail Kristoff, Maggie Kristoff, Jack Roberts, Kate Roberts & Sam Roberts
