Calaveras County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will intermittently close State Route 4 (SR-4) from Rolleri Bypass Road to Six Mile Creek/Six Mile Road in Calaveras County. Work will begin on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, through Friday, May 16, 2008, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Crews will be clearing boulders for the construction of the bypass....

Ebbetts Pass in Alpine County....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) removed the winter snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to open State Route 4 over Ebbetts Pass on Friday, May 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. The diligent work of Caltrans crews enabled an early open date for motorists who utilize this route. Ebbetts Pass is traditionally cleared for travel on the Friday of Memorial weekend......

Calaveras County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be performing one-way traffic control on State Route 12 from Haupt Creek to just west of Central Hill Road in Calaveras County. Work will begin Tuesday, May 13, 2008, through Friday, May 16, 2008, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Crews will be performing road widening activities......

Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Resolution Item authorizing the Board Chair to execute an agreement for the Federal Apportionment Exchange Program and State Match Fund; A Resolution approving and executing Cooperative Agreement with Cal-Trans for State Route 12/26 intersection; Parcel map for Copper Valley Ranch; A Minute Order authorizing Board Chair to execute a bus purchase; A Public Hearing on establishing new building and planning fees for the CDA; A Study Session at 1:30pm regarding the Sheriff's Operations Staffing Study. Mokelumne Hill, CA...Candidates Night for District 2 was held last night at Mokelumne Hill Town Hall Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and The Calaveras Enterprise. This evening it was Incumbent Steve Wilensky and new candidate John Morse. There were some tough questions asked, but both candidates did well. Some of the questions included Economic Development, County Roads, the $7,000 contribution to John Morse, Are you for a "Big Box?", the Government Center and more....

San Andreas, CA...On Monday, May 12, 2008, at 8 a.m. The Tuolumne Calaveras Unit of CAL FIRE announces the opening of summer preparedness within the state responsibility areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. The declaration of summer preparedness allows CAL FIRE to staff fire stations and equipment on a 24-hour basis to help protect California’s wild lands......

San Andreas, CA...On May 8, 2008 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office attended the Corrections Standards Authority Board meeting in Sacramento. The purpose of the meeting was to determine which counties would receive AB 900 funds for local jail construction. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office came in fourth place of the counties with a population under 200,000. There is a total of $100 million available to counties with a population under 200,000....
