Court Denies Emergency Order to Compel Trump Administration to Continue Subsidy Payments

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/25/2017 03:17 PM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today issued the following statement after the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California denied an emergency motion filed by California and a coalition of attorneys general to compel the federal government to continue to pay the Affordable Care Act (ACA) cost-sharing subsidies that lower healthcare costs while the case is litigated in court. While the court declined to enter an emergency order, the case will continue, and the States will press for a permanent resolution of their lawsuit to require the Administration to resume making the payments in compliance with the law.

TRAIN WRECK, A Calaveras County Resident Warns of the Coming Disaster by David Vassar

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/23/2017 08:46 AM
Arnold, CA...For the past few weeks Calaveras County has felt like a slow moving train wreck.  There is a tremendous amount of noise in any train wreck, but in this case no one is listening. And no one seems to notice that the train wreck is actually the future of Calaveras County. The train left the station in May of 2016 when the Calaveras Board of Supervisors passed an “Urgency Ordinance” with a vote of 4 to 1. The ordinance prescribed rules and regulations for the legal cultivation of cannabis in Calaveras County.

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/20/2017 09:23 AM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced a $120 million multistate settlement with General Motors Company (GM) over allegations that the company concealed safety issues related to defective ignition switches in GM vehicles. California will be receiving over $7 million. The settlement, reached among the attorneys general of 49 states and the District of Columbia and GM, concludes a multistate investigation into the auto manufacturer’s failure to disclose in a timely manner known safety defects associated with unintended key-rotation and/or ignition-switch related issues in several models and model years of GM vehicles.
