Washington, DC....553 Newly Released CIA Documents Posted. In the third public release this year, the National Archives today posted 676 records subject to the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 (JFK Act). Last week, President Donald J. Trump ordered all remaining records governed by section 5 of the JFK Act be released to the public. The President also directed agencies to complete another review of their proposed redactions and only redact information in the rarest of circumstances. The release by the National Archives today represents the first in a series of rolling releases pursuant to the President’s memorandum based on prior reviews done by agencies. The records included in this public release have not been reviewed by NARA.
Economy Added a Robust 261,000 Jobs in October & Unemployment Drops to 4.1%

Washington, DC....Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 261,000 in October, and the unemployment rate edged down to 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment in food services and drinking places increased sharply, mostly offsetting a decline in September that largely reflected the impact of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. In October, job gains also occurred in professional and business services, manufacturing, and health care.

Washington, DC...Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis will embark on Sunday, Nov. 5, to re-affirm key partnerships and alliances in Europe. Secretary Mattis will begin his engagements with a meeting with the Northern Group, a multilateral forum of 12 countries, including the five Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Norway), the three Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and the UK from Nov. 6-7.
Bills Move as Congressional Focus on Wildfire Prevention Intensifies

Washington, DC...This week, the U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation to streamline environmental reviews of forest management practices on federally managed lands in order to enhance wildfire prevention efforts nationwide. H.R. 2936, also known as the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2017, is the latest bill introduced by Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-AR) to tackle wildfire prevention and forest management on federal forest lands after a previous version of the bill stalled in the Senate last Congress.

Washington, DC...THE PRESIDENT: Thank you very much. Today we mourn the horrifying terrorist attack in New York City, just blocks away from the site of the World Trade Center. A man drove a truck into a pedestrian bike path and murdered eight people, and injured very, very seriously at least 11 more. All of America is praying and grieving for the families who lost their precious loved ones. Horrible act. Our hearts break for them and we pledge to renew our resolve in their memory.
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Backing Gas Tax Repeal Measure

Sacramento, CA...The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association announced today (31) it is backing a ballot measure that will repeal $5.2 billion in annual gas and car tax increases that take effect November 1st, and requires that future increases be approved by voters. The measure, Voter Approval for Increases in the Gas and Car Tax, has been filed with the Attorney General (17-0033) and HJTA will be working on its qualification for the November 2018 statewide ballot.
