Calaveras County Receives $2.8 Million to Ensure Safe Water After a Wildfire

San Andreas, CA...The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted $2.1 million to the Calaveras County Water District. A new project will replace five wooden water tanks with four ignition-resistant steel tanks to ensure more than 3,500 residents do not lose access to safe drinking water after a wildfire.
Eleven New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, August 4, 2020 Calaveras Public Health reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The additional cases include two females and one male between the 0 to 17 years of age, two females and one male between 18 to 49 years of age, and two females and three males between 50-64 years of age. Five cases were reported in District 1, District 3 had one case, District 4 had three cases, and District 5 had two cases. There were no cases reported in District 2.
Angels Camp City Hall Has Moved to Monte Verda Street

Angels Camp, CA...City Hall has relocated to 200 Monte Verda Street, Suite B and is now co-located with Community Development, next to the Police Department. The move will allow staff to work more efficiently and provide a one-stop shop for residents and businesses. Due to to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic City Hall and Community Development will remain closed for in-person services during this time. Most City services are available online.
Governor Newsom Signs Tribal Compacts and Concurs with U.S. Department of the Interior Decision

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has signed tribal-state gaming compacts between the State of California and the Ione Band of Miwok Indians, the Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation and the Tule River Indian Tribe of California. The Governor has also concurred with the Department of the Interior’s decision to allow 40 acres in Tulare County to be placed in trust for the Tule River Indian Tribe of California, for the purpose of relocating the Tribe’s casino.
