San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph's Facilities and Project Development Director, Larry Cornish addressed the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors this morning on all of the great things that are happening at the Hospital. He brought the Hospital's Business of the Year award up & also promoted an upcoming Job Fair that will be held at Toyon Middle School to showcase the healthcare jobs available in the area. One of the biggest news items in his update, was the announcement that the Mark Twain St. Joseph's Healthcare District will be building a 13,000 square foot medical facility in the new Copperopolis Towne Square....

| There are three meetings scheduled for "Great Decisions 2008." The next one is on Sunday, March 2nd. The topic of this meeting will be The Middle East, Israel and Palestine. Professor Peter Lee of Columbia College will speak and lead a group discussion in the social hall of the First Congregational Church, Algiers and Church Streets, Murphys from 2:00 to 3:30pm. San Andreas, CA...The Board of Supervisors are meeting Tuesday morning at 9am. It looks like they have another busy day scheduled. There is a Minute Order authorizing the CAO to declare 13 Public Works vehicles, 5 Sheriff Department vehicles, 1 CalWORKS vehicle and 1 Mental Health vehicle as surplus and subject to immediate disposition through sale, auction or organization transfer; There will be a Resolution Item supporting the...

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras Council of Governments met on February 6th for their regular monthly meeting. There next meeting will be held on March 5th at 6:30pm at the Board of Sups Chambers in San Andreas. We have the full agenda for your viewing pleasure.....

New Jail Funding Was the Hot Topic During the BOS Meeting Today~By Kim Hamilton |

San Andreas, CA...The Board of Supervisors had a very long day today, ending at approximately 3:30pm after three Study Sessions. One of the Study Sessions included a proposal from the Sheriff on additional costs for the new jail in the amount of $1.1 million dollars. He is requesting this money from the General Fund. Since the County will be going from a 65 bed bed to a 240 bed facility, staffing alone will be $1.1 million dollars. The County needs to commit to funding the facility, staff, food and medical costs. Total costs for all of these are unknown at this time....

Angels Camp City Council to Meet Tuesday Eve at The Bret Harte Theater |

| Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp City Council will meet on Tuesday February 19th at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. They will start the meeting with Planning Commission interviews at 5:30pm then move to their regular meeting at 6pm. The Mark Twain Elementary School students will be reading their "Kindness Hero" essays; There will be an Appeal on a Tentative Parcel Map; The Council will approve Proposition 1B for local streets and roads funding plan; They will also be appointing the new Planning Commissioner. There are two applicants: Bob Menary and Henry Petithomme. Mr. Menary has lived in Angels camp for 2 years. Mr. Petithomme grew up in Angels Camp. San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are meeting Tuesday morning at 9am. The CDA will start off with a Public Comments section; Then moved to a Closed Session to discuss the property for the new jail; They will then move to a Study Session to discuss Watershed Analysis Risk Management Framework Model; The other Study Session will be on pending application for AB900 funding for a new jail facility and associated development. There will also be a Closed Session held on Feburary 20th at 8:30am at Greenhorn Creek Fireside Room for Public Employee Appointment of County CAO. Full agenda is enclosed for your viewing pleasure.
