The Sanctuary Movement and the Doctrine of Nullification By Congressman Tom McClintock

Washington, DC...The Doctrine of Nullification is the assertion that any state government which doesn’t like a federal law is free to violate it. It began with early disputes over the Alien and Sedition Acts and federal tariffs and formed the central legal argument the Southern Confederacy used in its attempt to tear the federal union apart. It ignores the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, the enumerated powers of Congress and the exclusive jurisdiction given the courts to adjudicate disputes involving the states.

Washington, DC...National Guard troops are deploying to the U.S. border with Mexico to work in support functions for the Department of Homeland Security, including in aviation, operational and infrastructure missions, officials from the departments of Defense and Homeland Security told reporters yesterday. The Defense Department will provide DHS with up to 4,000 National Guard troops to support the April 4 presidential memorandum authorizing the enhanced presence along the southwest border, said Robert G. Salesses, deputy assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense integration and defense support of civil authorities.

Arnold, CA...Many have dreamed and tried to make the White Pines Pedestrian Bridge a reality over the years only to be met with futility, like myself. I envisioned a bridge, many years ago, that would complete the loop rather than forcing people down the treacherous path behind the spillway. It would also make the new bridge trail handicap accessible. Many people won’t walk around the lake, especially seniors, due to the risk of injury behind the spillway. I started doing research within the last few years and I spoke to Berha Underhill, district 3 board of directors for CCWD, and she thought it was a marvelous idea as it would increase tourism and provide additional economic stimulus to Arnold since the Meadowmont Golf Course closed. White Pines Lake has become a hidden gem in Arnold, although most people don’t utilize it other than tourists from the valley and the bay area. And isn’t Arnold heavily dependent on tourism? There was also a rumor that the Forest Service was going to build a pedestrian bridge downstream from the spillway, although it would not elevate the treacherous trail behind the spillway and force people onto the heavily traveled Forest Service road. After speaking to the Forest Service, they said they had no plans to build such a bridge.
President Trump's Weekly Address...Fighting for American Workers
Posted by: thepinetree on 04/14/2018 11:43 AM
Washington, DC...As a candidate for President, I promised that my Administration would fight every day for American Workers. Years of unfair trade have hammered American families and plundered American wealth. It’s been absolutely terrible for our country. We turned a blind eye while other nations targeted our industries and ransacked our factories. They took advantage of our country. They took advantage of our people. Over the last two decades, the United States racked up $12.5 trillion dollar trade deficits in goods, and watched nearly one-third of our manufacturing jobs disappear or go to other countries. We financed the rise of other countries at the expense of our own middle class people.
