Take The Bite Out of Mosquito Season

Spring has arrived in California which means the start of the West Nile virus season. Prevention of mosquito breeding and personal protection from mosquito bites are the two most important actions community members can take to prevent infection. To date in 2008, there are five counties in California with West Nile Virus activity (Sacramento, Kern, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego). A total of nine birds have tested positive for the virus. The virus has recently been detected in one mosquito pool and one sentinel chicken flock in California. There are no horse, squirrel, or human cases in the State at this time.....

A dozen or so Government & Business leaders met again at the County Government Center for over 2 hours planning and prioritizing items to focus on. Alpine County, CA....There are two candidates running for the position of Alpine County Superior Court Judge in the June election, Karen Dustman and David DeVore. Here are partial statements from each. Karen Dustman: "My name is Karen Dustman and I am running for Superior Court Judge of Alpine County. Alpine County, CA....Alpine County Board of Supervisors Chair Terry Woodrow announced today that Pamela Knorr has been selected by the Board of Supervisors to become Alpine County’s first County Administrative Officer. “Pamela is a well experienced person who the Board feels is a great fit for Alpine County to lead us into the future” said Woodrow. Knorr has over 20 years of experience in the public sector including having served as Director and Assistant Director of Child Support Services in Placer County and Supervisor/Program Manager for Child Support Services in Napa County. Susan Skalski, currently Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests in Northern Idaho, will be the new Forest Supervisor of the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, US Forest Service officials announced today. "I am very excited Susan will be joining us in Region 5, said Pacific Southwest Regional Forester Randy Moore, "Her strong background in natural resources makes her a great fit as the Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest."....
