Sacramento – Today, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) allocated $125 million to 36 transportation projects to improve the state’s transportation infrastructure and bolster the economy. The allocations include $37 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) and $31 million from Proposition 1B, the $19.9 billion transportation bond approved by voters in 2006. The remaining $57 million in allocations came from assorted transportation accounts funded by state and federal dollars.....

Dear Supervisors and the Public, We have indicated our preliminary suggested changes in red below. Also, we request more time for the public to review this plan before acceptance. In general, we feel the Board of Supervisors should focus on policy while allowing the details of administration of that policy to be controlled by the CAO. We recommend use of clear language with clear meanings. We think the private provision of public services (such as Feeney Park) promotes public participation and has worked well. This should be promoted wherever possible.....

Bill Leonard Says California Gasoline Demand Up 0.7%, Diesel Down...Fourth Month Increase for Gasoline While Diesel Follows State’s Economic Activity

Bill Leonard, Member of the State Board of Equalization (BOE), today released California gasoline and diesel consumption figures for August 2009. Demand for gasoline increased 0.7 percent and diesel declined 17.1 percent compared to the same month last year. While this is the fourth month of slight increase in gasoline consumption, so far in 2009 California gasoline consumption has declined 1.6 percent compared to January through August of 2008....

Sonora, Calif., (December 1, 2009)…The Forest Service today announced a reminder of the dates, times, and locations for five public meetings that will provide information on the upcoming Stanislaus National Forest (NF) Motorized Travel Management (MTM) Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision. The release of the decision and legal notice is expected this week. The purpose of the meetings includes sharing the decision along with the reasons for the decision, and explaining the next steps needed to implement the decision. Angels Camp City Council Meeting Planned for Tuesday December 1, 2009

Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels Camp City Council will meet on Tuesday December 1 at 5pm. They will start out with a Joint Meeting with the Planning Commission to approve the City of Angels Housing Element. At 5:54pm, the Lode Hotel Order of Abatement Item is on the agenda. Then at 6pm, the Regular Meeting will begin. Some of the agenda items being discussed is the ADA Self Evaluation and Transition Plan by Steve Flaigg and Tim Gilbert; The Water Violation topic is back. Save Receipts from Online Purchases...Use Tax May be Owed on Purchases from Out-of-State Retailers

The State Board of Equalization (BOE) is today reminding Californians that while online shopping is a convenient way to quickly take care of holiday gift needs, use tax may be owed on those purchases made online or from out-of-state retailers. Use tax generally applies to sales made outside the state or online when sales tax isn’t applied by the retailer. Sales tax applies to most in-state purchases. Online or catalog retailers are not required to collect sales tax unless they have a physical presence in California. The consumer is required to pay use tax when the out-of-state retailer does not collect sales tax.....

Board of Equalization Notifies Companies of Flavored Cigarette Ban

The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) today announced that the BOE has notified wholesalers and distributors that it is illegal to sell flavored cigarettes or roll-your-own (RYO) under the federal U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provision of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. The BOE sent a special notice by email informing them of this new federal regulation. Under federal law, these products can no longer be manufactured, imported, or sold in the United States and could be seized by federal, state or local law enforcement authorities. Cigarettes and RYO products banned by the FDA have been and continue to be removed ......
