Sonora, CA.…Fire Safe Council President Jerry Tannhauser today announced that on Saturday, October 3, the Highway 108 FireSafe Council is inviting homeowners in the Twain Harte area, to meet and discuss fire protection, emergency preparedness, and fire prevention measures needed to protect life, property, and resources from wildland fires. The subject area includes public and private land accessed by Middle Camp, North Tuolumne, Twain Harte Drive, and Joaquin Gully Roads, and California State Highway 108. ... |

An avid promoter of Calaveras County and its richness, State Senator Dave Cox will speak before business and community leaders at the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, September 25th. The luncheon will take place at Camps’ restaurant in Angels Camp at noon. One hundred people are expected to attend. “Tourism is an important industry in Calaveras County,” said Sen. Dave Cox who represents the MotherLode in the state Legislature. “The Governor and state officials must consider the impacts of park closures to the local economy in their deliberations.”.....

Angels Camp, CA....The City of Angels Camp City Council will meet this evening at 5pm. They will immediately adjourn to a Closed Session for a conference with labor negotiators; They will then reconvene and discuss the Abatement Item concerning the Lode Hotel; Some of the areas of discussion at this evenings meeting will also consist of Designation of a 15 minute Parking space in front of World Mercantile; Approval of Branding Logo Design with approval of City of Angels Branding Design; The Bret Harte Homecoming Parade will be discussed; Chamber of Commerce's Frogtoberfest Parade will also be discussed; Maintenance of Greenhorn Creek Roads will be discussed; Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project Phase III ARRA Funding; Proposition 218 and establishing cost per gallon for sewage treatment for FY 2009/10. Agenda is enclosed.....

Alpine County’s 1,200 residents make it the smallest county population-wise in the State of California. Somewhere around 94 percent of its land mass is under government jurisdiction. Of that 94 percent, some 55 percent is designated as wilderness. So that means only 6 percent of the county’s 726 square miles is owned privately.....

Angels Camp, CA...Utica park was filled on Saturday afternoon to hear former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack speak. Sheriff Mack is a constitutional scholar who after his law enforcement career still lectures extensively on Constitutional issues. He came to national prominence for when as Sheriff he challenged the Clinton administration on the Constitutionality of parts of the Brady Bill....
