Some Wells in Amador County May be a Bit Radioactive

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/31/2017 04:40 PM
Jackson, CA - California’s groundwater may contain naturally occurring radioactivity. Radioactive minerals occur irregularly in California’s bedrock, and when dissolved in water, radionuclides are colorless, odorless, and tasteless. Unlike community water systems, private wells in California are not routinely regulated or monitored for contaminants like radionuclides. As a result, well owners are responsible for ensuring their drinking water is safe. In some well water, the concentrations of radionuclides exceed public drinking water standards, called maximum contaminant levels (MCLs).

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/30/2017 08:32 PM
Sacramento, CA...Senator Ted Gaines (R-El Dorado) today expressed disappointment in the Joint Legislative Audit Committee’s (JLAC) denial of his request for an audit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), specifically the monies collected from the fire tax. Senator Gaines was able to generate strong, bi-partisan support for the audit, however, it was not enough to move the request forward.

Corpus Christi, Texas...GOVERNOR ABBOTT: Well, I want to welcome the President of the United States to the great state of Texas. I want to express my gratitude for our fellow Texans and especially the people of Corpus Christi for giving the President such a warm welcome on his ride over here, showing the gratitude that we all have for the President. Our Armed Forces Can Be Our Model For Racial Unity ~ Weekly Address from President Donald Trump

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/26/2017 08:41 AM
Washington, DC...My Fellow Americans, I had the profound honor this week of addressing American troops at Fort Myer and speaking to thousands of veterans at the American Legion National Convention. Today I want to speak to all Americans about what we can learn from the men and women of our incredible Armed Forces. Every person who puts on the uniform makes our nation proud. They all come from across our land. They represent every race, ethnicity, and creed. But they all pledge the same oath, fight for the same cause, and operate as one team – with one shared sense of purpose.

On Marijuana Regulation vs Ban ~ Letter to Editor By Sarah Kancianich

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/25/2017 02:16 PM
San Andreas, CA...Dear Calaveras, I am publishing this letter after doing much research and inquiry into the pros and cons of the current proposed ban ordinance. This topic is extremely polarizing. On one end of the pole you have the “banners”, people who just don't like it. On the other end you have the growers, legal and illegal, advocating for their right to cultivate. It’s controversial to say you support regulation because then you give the impression that you are a marijuana advocate. The fact is, you can be anti-marijuana and support regulation.

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/23/2017 08:33 AM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra released the following statement after President Donald Trump visited the U.S.-Mexico border and held a campaign-style rally in Phoenix yesterday night: “Sadly, yesterday night we saw failed leadership in action. At a critical moment for our nation, Donald Trump resorted to tribalistic anger and division to speak to America at a campaign-style rally in Phoenix, Arizona.
