San Andreas, CA...PLANNING COMMISSION NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING LEAD AGENCY: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249 2016-002 TPM FOR WEST POINT DOLLAR GENERAL: The applicant is requesting approval of an application to divide 4.42 acres into two parcels, 3.09 acres and 1.33 acres in size. The parcel is currently zoned C2 (General Commercial) and is designed in the County General Plan as the West Point Community Center. The subject property is located off Highway 26 in West Point. APN: 008-016-009 is a portion of Block 4, Lot 12, Por. Lot 3.

Charlottesville, VA...The Charlottesville Police Department continues to investigate the fatal traffic crash that occurred Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, in the city. The crash occurred at 1:42 p.m., at the intersection of 4th Street SE and E. Water Street. The three-vehicle crash occurred on 4th Street. A Dodge Challenger was traveling south on 4th Street at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a sedan headed south on 4th Street. The impact of that crash pushed the sedan into the minivan in front of it. The minivan had slowed for a crowd of people crossing through the intersection. The impact of the crash pushed the vehicles into the crowd of pedestrians. The Dodge Challenger fled the scene, but was located and stopped a short time later by Charlottesville Police.

Charlottesville, VA...Governor Terry McAuliffe released the following statement regarding the emergency declaration he authorized this morning: “At 11:28 a.m., the Virginia State Police contacted me to request a state of emergency and I immediately authorized the declaration. We have maintained close contact with the Virginia State Police, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and other state and local officials on the ground in Charlottesville, and I agree that the situation in Charlottesville warrants an emergency declaration by me, in order to aid City and County law enforcement in their efforts to restore public safety and order in the City of Charlottesville and the surrounding area. In the days and weeks leading up to this event, my Administration engaged in extensive planning and preparation to ensure that the rally in Charlottesville could be held in a safe and lawful environment. These preparations included the deployment of a large number of state troopers, as well as the Virginia National Guard for support.
