President Trump at a California Sanctuary State Roundtable
Posted by: thepinetree on 05/16/2018 04:48 PM
Washington, DC...Good afternoon. I’m greatly honored to be here with the courageous mayors and sheriffs and local leaders from across the state of California. A great state. Each of you has bravely resisted California’s deadly and unconstitutional sanctuary state laws. You’ve gone through a lot, too, although it’s becoming quite popular what you’re doing. A law that forces the release of illegal immigrant criminals, drug dealers, gang members, and violent predators into your communities. California’s law provides safe harbor to some of the most vicious and violent offenders on Earth, like MS-13 gang members putting innocent men, women, and children at the mercy of these sadistic criminals. But we’re moving them out of this country by the thousands. MS-13, we’re grabbing them by the thousands and we’re getting them out, Kevin.
Governor Brown Not A Fan Of President Trump's Sanctuary City Meeting

Sacramento, CA...From Governor Brown's Twitter Acct..."🤥 @realDonaldTrump is lying on immigration, lying about crime and lying about the laws of CA. Flying in a dozen Republican politicians to flatter him and praise his reckless policies changes nothing. We, the citizens of the fifth largest economy in the world, are not impressed."
Becerra Leads Coalition of 20 Attorneys General Urging for a National Injunction to Protect Women’s Access to Family Planning

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, leading a coalition of 19 states and the District of Columbia, filed an amicus brief in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia supporting a nationwide preliminary injunction that would block a recent attempt by the Trump-Pence Administration to reduce access to Title X, the nation’s family planning program. Title X provides family planning services including birth control, and other critical preventive care to uninsured and under-insured patients. The new set of requirements put forward by the Trump-Pence Administration would jeopardize the lives and the health of millions of low-income women and families across the United States by threatening funding for birth control, sexually transmitted disease testing, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and infertility treatment. Over one million Californians benefit from the Title X program.
Sheriff-Coroner James W. Mele's Last Day Will Be June 30th

Sonora, CA...I am announcing that June 30, 2018 will be my last day as Sheriff-Coroner of Tuolumne County. With the uncertainty of the 2018-2019 budget I feel that my last act as Sheriff should be with certainty. As you are aware this budget cycle is a very tight budget. This will allow a savings for a whole year versus only half of the year because of my higher salary. The difference comes in the longevity of my thirty years with this organization, where Undersheriff Pooley has six years of longevity with us. This will allow the movement of the new Undersheriff position to be filled; however, I will be recommending to not fill the vacated Lieutenant position until or after Mid-Year at the earliest.

Washington, D.C....Thank you very much, Chuck. I want to start by saying that Melania is in the hospital doing really well. She’s watching us right now. And I want to thank the incredible doctors — Walter Reed Medical Center. They did a fantastic job. So thank you. (Applause.) And she sends her love.

Sacramento, CA...Caltrans announced today the next round of local transportation planning grants totaling $41 million have been awarded. Local agencies will put this money to use for planning efforts and projects that support more sustainable communities, reduce transportation-related greenhouse gases and adapt for the effects of climate change. “These grants will provide much needed funding to support the efforts by local and regional agencies to improve transportation in their communities,” said Caltrans Director Laurie Berman. “Planning is a crucial first step in creating projects that can ultimately lead to more long-lasting transportation improvements throughout the state.”
