Kavanaugh Denies Allegation Anew, Arrives at White House

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/17/2018 10:35 AM
Washington, DC...(AP) Brett Kavanaugh and the woman accusing him of a decades-old sexual assault both indicated Monday that they would be willing to testify to a Senate panel as the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee shifted from seemingly painless to problematic. Kavanaugh was seen arriving at the White House, with no immediate reason given, while all 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote the panel’s Republican chairman asking him to postpone a scheduled Thursday vote on the nominee to give the FBI more time to investigate. President Trump on Additional Tariffs on $267 Billion of Imports from China

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/17/2018 04:48 PM
Washington, DC...Today, following seven weeks of public notice, hearings, and extensive opportunities for comment, I directed the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to proceed with placing additional tariffs on roughly $200 billion of imports from China. The tariffs will take effect on September 24, 2018, and be set at a level of 10 percent until the end of the year. On January 1, the tariffs will rise to 25 percent. Further, if China takes retaliatory action against our farmers or other industries, we will immediately pursue phase three, which is tariffs on approximately $267 billion of additional imports.

San Francisco, CA...In closing remarks at the Global Climate Action Summit, California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced that the State of California is teaming up with San Francisco-based Earth imaging company Planet Labs (Planet) to develop and eventually launch a satellite that will track climate change-causing pollutants with unprecedented precision and help the world dramatically reduce these destructive emissions. “With science still under attack and the climate threat growing, we’re launching our own damn satellite,” said Governor Brown. “This groundbreaking initiative will help governments, businesses and landowners pinpoint – and stop – destructive emissions with unprecedented precision, on a scale that’s never been done before.”

Jessica Morse on Tom McClintock Rejecting Tahoe Debate

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/13/2018 11:22 AM
Roseville, CA...Congressman Tom McClintock officially pulled out of a debate he committed to with Jessica Morse, his Democratic challenger in the 4th Congressional District race. The event was to be held in Lake Tahoe and hosted by the Sierra Business Council and North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, and would've been one of only two debates McClintock has agreed to; a non-televised debate in Mariposa County is scheduled for later this month. In response, Morse released the following statement: "Clearly Tom McClintock is not the champion of small business that he claims since he refuses to participate in a debate hosted by the Sierra Business Council and North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.
