San Andreas – Wednesday, May 1st , 2019, at 8:00 AM the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will require burning permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. Burn hours will not be restricted; however, a transition to night time burning may occur as conditions change. The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit is continuing to implement elevation based burning requirements. New burn permits will reflect Zone 1 (Below 3,500’) and Zone 2 (Above 3,500’). Previously issued burn permits are still valid, please verify your elevation and zone prior to burning. The burn information lines for Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties will state if it is a permissive burn day in Zone 1 and/or Zone 2. The goal of this program is to allow property owners at the higher elevations to utilize door yard burning to remove waste generated while creating and maintaining defensible space for a longer period of time, while minimizing the potential of escaped control debris burns at the lower elevations.

Attorney General Becerra Fighting Army Corps Efforts to Speed Up Water Projects
Posted by: thepinetree on 04/25/2019 02:21 PM
Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today joined a multistate comment letter objecting to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (Army Corps) directive to weaken states' oversight of projects impacting water quality. The Army Corps’ directive would drastically shorten timeframes for state water quality certifications under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act (CWA). This abbreviated timeframe would prevent states from adequately assessing the water quality impacts of proposed federal projects to ensure states’ water resources are protected.

Washington, DC...So the stock market and our country, from an economic standpoint, is doing the best probably it’s ever done. We’re hitting new highs again. We’ve hit new highs, I guess close to, or over 100 times since I’m President — from the time of the election. Unemployment numbers are the best they’ve ever been by far. We have almost 160 million people working today in the United States. That’s more than we’ve ever had working in our country before.
Washington, DC...The United States condemns in the strongest terms the terror attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter morning. Attacks on innocent people gathering in a place of worship or enjoying a holiday meal are affronts to the universal values and freedoms that we hold dear, and demonstrate yet again the brutal nature of radical terrorists whose sole aim is to threaten peace and security.

Secretary of State Pompeo on Pressure Campaign On Iran & Terrorist Attacks in Sri Lanka
Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2019 10:54 PM
Washington, DC...Good morning, everyone. Before I make my announcement regarding our pressure campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran, I want to address yesterday’s terrorist attack in Sri Lanka. What was supposed to be a joyful Easter Sunday was marred by a horrific wave of Islamic radical terror bloodshed. It’s heartbreaking that a country which has strived so hard for peace in recent years has been targeted by these terrorists. We mourn the loved ones of the victims, some of whom, we can confirm, were indeed U.S. citizens. This is America’s fight too. I spoke with the prime minister of Sri Lanka this morning. And our embassy and other parts of the U.S. Government are offering all possible assistance to Americans and the Sri Lankan Government alike. We urge that any evildoers be brought to justice expeditiously, and America is prepared to support that.
