Governor Newsom On Major CPUC Investigation Into Utility Power Shutoffs

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/29/2019 07:18 AM
Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement on a major investigation by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) of utility-led Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS):“I want to see the CPUC launch a total reform of power shutoff rules and regulations. Utilities must be held accountable and be aggressively penalized for their overreliance on PSPS, and the product of this investigation must be new rules and regulations to do that. I also want to see customers not charged for PSPS. It seems obvious, but under the current rules, utilities can do just that. It’s unacceptable and must be remedied.”

Chicago, IL...Thank you. Thank you, Paul. You’ve been my friend for a long time, but thank you for that introduction. That says it all. You can say it very shortly, but I think there’s nobody that’s ever done more — certainly, in the position of President — for our great police, and it’s an honor to be with you. And, please, sit down. Let’s go have a good time. (Applause.) And, Paul, I want to thank you for nearly four decades of exceptional service in the line of duty.

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/29/2019 12:10 PM
San Andreas, CA....From the Calaveras Good Morning Calaveras! We have just finished our AM PG&E Briefing and we are starting this morning off on a much better note. The LATEST de-energization time is 4pm today, with a weather All-Clear time of 1am on Wednesday (10-30) We also have an updated outage map, that shows a smaller outage footprint. We've tried to orient this map with some arrows to generally indicate a couple communities; they are rudimentary in nature, and are meant to just assist folks with what the map represents. According to the latest map, Valley Springs, San Andreas, Angels Camp and Copperopolis should NOT be de-energized. For complete details see the map provided in this post. With three of our larger communities being restored, access to fuel, food and other supplies should become easier.

Calaveras County OES, PG&E PSPS Update

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/28/2019 10:46 AM
San Andreas, CA...From Calaveras County OES..."Good morning Calaveras! We just finished the morning briefing, and bring back A LOT of good news! 1) We have received the weather "all-clear" for this current outage, and now that the sun is up, PG&E is out inspecting lines for power restoration! Now, the bad news: this wind event was serious, and we are concerned about being able to restore power completely before tomorrow's outage. What that means is that some of the outlying areas of the county may not be restored before the next outage. Simply put, there are too many moving parts to know whether or not we'll get 100% restoration before tomorrow. PG&E reports 6,000 Employees/Contractors in the field working on restoration.
