Posted by: thepinetree on 01/02/2020 07:23 PM
Washington, DC....At the direction of the President, the U.S. military has taken decisive defensive action to protect U.S. personnel abroad by killing Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region. General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more. He had orchestrated attacks on coalition bases in Iraq over the last several months – including the attack on December 27th – culminating in the death and wounding of additional American and Iraqi personnel. General Soleimani also approved the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad that took place this week.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo & Secretary of Defense Mark Esper on Iraq

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/31/2019 05:20 PM
Palm Beach, FL....SECRETARY POMPEO: Good evening. Myself, with Secretary Esper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley, came here to Florida today to brief the President on the activities that have taken place in the Middle East over the course of the last 72 hours. I will leave to Secretary Esper to talk about the military activity, but I want to put it in the context of our policy with respect to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The attacks that took place against an Iraqi facility threatened American forces. This has been going on now for weeks and weeks and weeks. This wasn’t the first set of attacks against this particular Iraqi facility and others where there were American lives at risk.

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/28/2019 09:40 AM

Historically public sector jobs provided security at a lower compensation rate as a trade off. Government jobs now provide not only security but much higher average hourly compensation. Has the SEIU and other Public Employee Unions done for Government Workers what the UAW did for the Auto Workers in the 70s & 80s? Have they created a wage structure that is unsustainable in the long run? State and local government compensation averaged $51.66 per hour worked in September 2019 while private industry could only manages $34.77 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
