Governor Newsom on Passage of Federal Supplemental Stimulus Bill

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement on the federal supplemental stimulus bill passed today: “The stimulus bill passed today will provide critical support for California to fight COVID-19 and strengthen our hospitals and health care system. It means an additional $600 a week in Unemployment Insurance for the many Californians who have already lost jobs and the many more who will during this crisis, provides emergency loans and grants to help small businesses and non-profits keep people employed, and it provides direct aid to state and local governments so that we can respond to this emergency and aid communities and families during this time.

Governor Newsom Issues Executive Order Establishing Statewide Moratorium on Evictions

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today issued an executive order banning the enforcement of eviction orders for renters affected by COVID-19 through May 31, 2020. The order prohibits landlords from evicting tenants for nonpayment of rent and prohibits enforcement of evictions by law enforcement or courts. It also requires tenants to declare in writing, no more than seven days after the rent comes due, that the tenant cannot pay all or part of their rent due to COVID-19.  The order is effective immediately and will apply through May 31, 2020.  Builds on the Governor’s previous executive action authorizing local governments to halt evictions

Governor Newsom Grants Executive Clemency

Sacramento, CA...Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order to enhance the authority of California’s Judicial Branch to take emergency action in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.  Specifically, the executive order empowers the Judicial Council and the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court to take necessary action to be able to conduct business and continue to operate while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The order does not affect any existing court order or rule.

Confirmed Case of COVID-19 From Mono Country Being Treated in Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA... Last night, March 25th, 2020, the Tuolumne County Public Health Department was notified that a 31 year-old female resident of Mono County tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated at Adventist Health Sonora. Preliminary investigations indicate that the patient’s exposure to COVID-19 occurred in Mono County then the person traveled to Tuolumne County, then later sought medical care. This case is associated with community transmission in Mono County and was not acquired through local community spread in Tuolumne.

Murphys, CA...With this dramatic change in our lives, I want to address a concern that many of you have expressed, short-term rentals. Most of the property managers in Ebbetts Pass, who manage short-term rentals, have closed their reservations. This equates to more than 300 rental units that have been put on hold. For this, I truly thank them.
