Washington, DC...Thank you very much, everybody. This is an honor. Fifty-nine governors. Think of that. But we actually have — we added a few from the islands, so we broke it down to 49. But we love to exaggerate just a little bit. (Laughter.) This has been a — really, a great couple of days. We’ve had a lot of fun together. And it’s been, you know, very special. We’ve gotten to know each other. We’ve gotten to like each other, in almost all cases. Let’s see — one or two cases. Every case, I would say. (Laughter.) Every single case.

Washington, DC...Thank you. (Applause.) Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Please. Thank you very much. As governors, we all sort of get together and we have a good time. But we also — we’re going to accomplish a lot. This going to be a very good meeting. Tremendous things are happening for our country.

In our sharply politically divided country it may be time for us all to look back and reaffirm that our country really is a collection of ideas and ideals. The Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness that we all at times take for granted was hard fought and narrowly won. In the end our allegiance is not to a King, Dictator or Strong Man but too each other. One thing the founding fathers all agreed on was that human nature is subject to weakness and they took into account human frailties. They devised a system that has at many times protected us from man's and woman's worst enemy which is the reflection that stares back at us all from the mirror.

President Trump Before Meeting with Vice Premier Liu He of the People’s Republic of China

Washington, DC...Thank you very much. It’s a great honor to be with the Vice Premier of China, a very highly respected man in China. And we’re negotiating trade and the trade agreement. And we have many representatives from China and — as you’d know, and most of you know who they are — many representatives from the United States. I think we’re getting along very well. Ultimately, I think the biggest decisions and some even smaller decisions will be made by President Xi and myself. And we expect to have a meeting sometime in the not-too-distant future.

West Point, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed eastbound and westbound State Route 26 (SR-26) for approximately 2.5 miles east of Glencoe from Deardorff Road to Woodhouse Mine Road for repair work after the Valentine’s Day deluge that swamped Calaveras County on February 14, 2019. The closure is expected to be long-term in order to repair damage from multiple washouts that damaged the roadway. The full-closure is expected to continue until early March and then one-way traffic control will be in effect until repairs are completed. The estimated date of the completion of the work has not been determined.

Governor Newsom, Attorney General Becerra, and 15 Partner States File Lawsuit Challenging President Trump’s Declaration of National Emergency at the Southern Border
Posted by: thepinetree on 02/19/2019 08:00 AM
Sacramento, CA...California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Xavier Becerra, leading a 16-state coalition, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California challenging President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency and his attempt to divert funding appropriated by Congress for other purposes. In the complaint, the coalition alleges that the Trump Administration’s emergency declaration and diversion of funds is unconstitutional and otherwise unlawful. The states seek to block the Trump Administration’s emergency declaration, the unauthorized construction of the border wall, and any illegal diversion of Congressionally-appropriated funds.
