Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today announced new initiatives to help Californians put healthy food on the table while also supporting the farm industry, which has been devastated by COVID-19. The Governor unveiled $3.64 million in new funding to expand the state’s Farm to Family program, including $2.86 million from the USDA and $775,000 committed by philanthropy to jumpstart a $15 million campaign to further support the program through the end of the year. Posted by: thepinetree on 04/28/2020 08:27 AM
Placerville, CA...The seasonal closure of dirt roads and motorized trails in the Eldorado National Forest will be lifted beginning Friday, May 1st. However, damage could still occur from driving in wet areas and visitors will be responsible for any damage caused by inappropriate use.  Due to melting snow, wet areas will be present in the forest for some time, especially at higher elevations. Many routes change in elevation over several miles. Visitors are encouraged to be aware of changes in the conditions of the roads they are using, and to adjust travel plans if they reach a wet section.

ACEP-AAEM Issue Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation as Consensus in Medical Community Breaks Down

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/28/2020 09:51 AM
Irving, TX & Milwaukee, WI...The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical societies and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19. As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health.

What drove the Organizations to issue the statements Were the comments of the Kern County, CA Doctors in the video above stating that continuation of the stay at home orders may be counter productive. They have been conducting testing at the Urgent Care Centers they run in Kern County.

Quarantine and a Free Society By Congressman Tom McClintock

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/28/2020 11:49 PM
Roseville, CA...Quarantine is the forced confinement of a person who has contracted or been exposed to an infectious disease.  Although it is a long-standing police power of governments, it is seldom used because seldom needed – sick people generally stay home on their own.  When it must be used, it is subject to due process: the right to contest the order in court, to present evidence that the order is invalid, and to have it vacated.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/27/2020 02:33 PM
Washington, DC...Speech in Support of H.R. 266 - Paycheck Protection Program Replenishment on April 23, 2020 Madam Speaker: When we passed the Paycheck Protection Program, I warned that serious flaws would deliver a windfall to businesses that do not need it, at the expense of those that do. That is exactly what happened, exhausting the fund within days.
