San Andreas, CA...Outgoing CCWD Board President Bertha Underhill, was designated as the CCWD Outreach Ambassador. She is the "Hostess with the Mostest" always bringing in goodies for all of her peers to munch on so the Board appointed her to this position today. She has even been know to visit CCWD facilities out in the field with cookies as well. After she was appointed as Outreach Ambassador they handed her a bag of candy and a baseball bat...Let's hope she only has to use for the candy!...

San Andreas, CA...Michele Shelton from the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency addressed Board of Supervisors today about the California Emerging Technologies fund. ATTCA is leading the cause for getting grants to improve Broadband Access in the local Five-County area. These grants are for planning and infrastructure. They are following a very successful project over in the Humboldt County Area....

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph's Facilities and Project Development Director, Larry Cornish addressed the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors this morning on all of the great things that are happening at the Hospital. He brought the Hospital's Business of the Year award up & also promoted an upcoming Job Fair that will be held at Toyon Middle School to showcase the healthcare jobs available in the area. One of the biggest news items in his update, was the announcement that the Mark Twain St. Joseph's Healthcare District will be building a 13,000 square foot medical facility in the new Copperopolis Towne Square....

New Jail Funding Was the Hot Topic During the BOS Meeting Today~By Kim Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...The Board of Supervisors had a very long day today, ending at approximately 3:30pm after three Study Sessions. One of the Study Sessions included a proposal from the Sheriff on additional costs for the new jail in the amount of $1.1 million dollars. He is requesting this money from the General Fund. Since the County will be going from a 65 bed bed to a 240 bed facility, staffing alone will be $1.1 million dollars. The County needs to commit to funding the facility, staff, food and medical costs. Total costs for all of these are unknown at this time....

Angels Camp City Council to Meet Tuesday Eve at The Bret Harte Theater

Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp City Council will meet on Tuesday February 19th at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. They will start the meeting with Planning Commission interviews at 5:30pm then move to their regular meeting at 6pm. The Mark Twain Elementary School students will be reading their "Kindness Hero" essays; There will be an Appeal on a Tentative Parcel Map; The Council will approve Proposition 1B for local streets and roads funding plan; They will also be appointing the new Planning Commissioner. There are two applicants: Bob Menary and Henry Petithomme. Mr. Menary has lived in Angels camp for 2 years. Mr. Petithomme grew up in Angels Camp.
