Posted by: thepinetree on 11/09/2019 10:07 AM
Berlin, Germany....Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down and the start of the reunification of the friends, families & eventually East & West Germany. The wall was a hated and physical symbol of the totalitarian governments of the Soviet Bloc nations and their oppression of individual freedoms. There are lessons still to be learned from the post World War II history and mistakes not to be repeated. So today we celebrate the freedoms for millions in a post Soviet Era world. Washington, DC...U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) on Wednesday introduced the Family Friendly Schools Act, first-of-its-kind legislation to align the school day with the work day to better support working families.“My mother raised my sister and me while working demanding, long hours,” said Senator Harris. “So, I know firsthand that, for many working parents, juggling between school schedules and work schedules is a common cause of stress and financial hardship. But, this does not have to be the case. My bill provides an innovative solution that will help reduce the burden of child care on working families. It is time we modernize the school schedule to better meet the needs of our students and their families.”
