San Andreas, CA...During January 2019 an atmospheric river system swept across California bringing high winds, substantial precipitation, and flooding, impacting counties across the state. Continuing on February 12-19 another significant atmospheric river system swept across Calaveras County resulting in widespread damage to the County road system. Calaveras was one of several counties in California identified as being impacted by this disaster and will be receiving both State and Federal disaster recovery funds.
Sutter Creek Man is Thirteenth COVID-19 Case in Amador

Amador County, CA....On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Amador County Public Health reported one additional case of COVID-19 in Amador County. The new case is an adult male in his 50s who is a resident of Sutter Creek, currently hospitalized in a neighboring county.
California Public Health Officials Release Guidance Requiring Californians to Wear Face Coverings in Most Settings Outside the Home

Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Public Health today released updated PDF guidance that requires Californians to wear a face covering in high-risk settings. A growing body of scientific research has shown that people with no or few symptoms of COVID-19 can still spread the disease and that the use of face coverings, combined with physical distancing and frequent hand washing, will reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Washington, DC...Today Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the court. From the Syllabus "In 2012, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a memorandum announcing an immigration relief program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which allows certain unauthorized aliens who arrived in the United States as children to apply for a two-year forbearance of removal. Those granted such relief become eligible for work authorization and various federal benefits. Some 700,000 aliens have availed themselves of this opportunity." Supreme Court Will Not Hear Challenge to California Sanctuary Law

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today released a statement following news that the U.S. Supreme Court denied the federal government’s petition for review in United States v. California: “In California, we’ve seen the success that comes from building trust between law enforcement and our hard-working immigrant communities. The last thing we need to do is to erode that trust. Today, America is experiencing the pain and protest that occurs when trust is broken,” said Attorney General Becerra. “That’s why this fight mattered so much. We’re protecting Californians’ right to decide how we do public safety in our state. The Trump Administration does not have the authority to commandeer state resources. We’re heartened by today’s Supreme Court decision.”
