Sacramento, CA...Guidance will help drive reopening for some sectors – including retail, manufacturing and logistics – with modifications, beginning Friday, May 8. Regional variance allows for counties to move further into Stage 2 when they attest to meeting certain criteria. Following up on the state’s announcement that it will begin modifying the stay at home order on Friday, May 8, Governor Gavin Newsom today released updated industry guidance – including for retail, manufacturing and logistics – to begin reopening with modifications that reduce risk and establish a safer environment for workers and customers. Lake Camanche and Lake Pardee to Reopen with Modifications

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health has worked in collaboration with Amador County Environmental Health and Calaveras Department of Public Health to approve re-opening of both Lake Camanche and Lake Pardee with modified operations on May 8, 2020 for residents. Both concessionaires, Basecamp Hospitality and Rocky Mountain Recreation Company, in collaboration with East Bay Municipal Utility District, proactively drafted proposals to modify their operations to provide safe access to the lakes.
Governor Must Allow Houses of Worship to Reopen in Stage 2 to Assist Californians

Sacramento, CA...Today, Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) and Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) issued statements after delivering a letter to Governor Newsom urging him to allow Houses of Worship to reopen as part of California's Stage 2. Members of the Senate and Assembly Republican Caucuses signed on to the letter which media can read here.
Sacramento, CA...As California prepares to enter Stage 2 of the gradual reopening of the state this Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that workers who contract COVID-19 while on the job may be eligible to receive workers’ compensation. The Governor signed an executive order that creates a time-limited rebuttable presumption for accessing workers’ compensation benefits applicable to Californians who must work outside of their homes during the stay at home order.

Valley Springs, CA...The following letter has been sent to Calaveras County by Valley Springs Law Firm Chavez-Ochoa on behalf or their clients. Ms. DeKay, On April 29, 2020, Dr. Kelaita extended the shelter-in-place order, thereby, preventing many local businesses, and my clients, specifically, from opening their doors to customers. This has had a devastating financial effect on their ability to remain in business. The numbers and the science do not justify a continuing order whereby businesses in Calaveras County need to remain closed. Regardless of what the Calaveras County Health Officer believes to be in his personal best interest, it clearly is not in the best interest of the citizens of Calaveras County. Washington, DC...Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent non-surgical treatment for acute cholecystitis, a benign gallbladder condition, this afternoon at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Following oral arguments on Monday, the Justice underwent outpatient tests at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., that confirmed she was suffering from a gallstone that had migrated to her cystic duct, blocking it and causing an infection.

Olympia, WA...From the Washington Department of AG..."Asian giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia) is the world's largest species of hornet. In December 2019, WSDA received and verified four reports of Asian giant hornet near Blaine and Bellingham. These are the first-ever sighting in the United States. Canada had also discovered Asian giant hornet in two locations in British Columbia in the fall of 2019.
