Grand Rapids, MI...Thank you very much, Andrew for your very kind introduction and I’d like to say that I really appreciate the work that Andrew and Matt, our U.S. Attorneys for the Eastern and Western District of Michigan our doing here for the people of Michigan and all the law enforcement community from Michigan, that is here today. We really appreciate your work and as Andrew said, after my remarks they are going to put on a presentation of the China Initiative, which I think you’ll find very interesting, so if you have the time I urge you to stay for that. I would like to thank the leadership and staff of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum — especially Elaine Didier — for hosting this event. I also thank the Ford Presidential Foundation and its Executive Director Joe Calvaruso. Even under normal circumstances, it’s hard to put together an event like this, but in the current circumstances it’s especially challenging and I really appreciate it. And I really appreciate all of you who’ve come, I know many have come from around the state and I appreciate the effort that was made to be here for these remarks.
Statement from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Her Cancer Recurrence

Washington, DC...On May 19, I began a course of chemotherapy (gemcitabine) to treat a recurrence of cancer. A periodic scan in February followed by a biopsy revealed lesions on my liver. My recent hospitalizations to remove gall stones and treat an infection were unrelated to this recurrence. Immunotherapy first essayed proved unsuccessful. The chemotherapy course, however, is yielding positive results. Satisfied that my treatment course is now clear, I am providing this information.

Tuolumne County – Yesterday, July 15th, 2020, at approximately 3:39 p.m Tuolumne County Fire Department (TCFD) and several assisting agencies responded to the Monte Fire, a structure fire at 19000 Block of Soulsbyville Rd. Soulsbyville, CA. The fully involved building was a “commercial” type shop on residential property and approximately 3000 square feet in size.

San Andreas, CA...To help protect CCWD Staff and customers, our main lobby will be closed to the public. All payments must be made online at CCWD.org or physical payments can be placed in the drop box at 120 Toma Court on the front of our building. If you have a specific need that requires in person assistance, you can make an appointment by calling 209-754-3543 or email Customer Service to make an appointment. Most requests can be handled remotely using electronic documents and email. However, in the case where you must meet in person, please ensure you are on time for your appointment, wearing a mask for entry. The office does not have public restrooms.

Fresno, CA...Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Armenia & Artsakh, issued the following statement in response to Azerbaijan's attack on Armenia: "I have been in communication with Armenian and Artsakh officials and confirmed that Azerbaijan launched unprovoked military actions against Armenia," said Senator Borgeas.

San Andreas, CA...On July 13, 2020, Governor Newsom announced the statewide closure of the following businesses because of statewide increases in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and intensive care unit utilization:
All brewpubs, breweries, bars and pubs (indoor and outdoor)
Dine-in restaurants (indoor)
Wineries and tasting rooms (indoor)
Family entertainment centers (indoor)
Movie theaters (indoor)
Zoos and museums (indoor)
Card rooms (indoor)
Sacramento, CA...California is monitoring COVID-19 closely in each local community and keeping the public informed. We’re teaming up with counties to fight it with every tool we have: current local data, testing, contact tracing, infection control, emergency supplies, containment measures, and more. Counties should be ready to restore limitations if outbreaks increase. The State Public Health Officer may take action if needed. Effective July 13, 2020, ALL counties must close indoor operations in these sectors: Dine-in restaurants, Wineries and tasting rooms, Movie theaters, Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades), Zoos and museums, Cardrooms, Additionally, bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor statewide.

New York, NY...To support this nation’s historic movement towards racial justice, the Open Society Foundations today is announcing investments totaling $220 million in emerging organizations and leaders building power in Black communities across the country, placing a bet on their ability to carry today’s momentum toward a better tomorrow. The largest share of this support—$150 million—will be through a set of five-year grants to Black-led justice organizations that helped to create and now sustain the momentum towards racial equality.
