The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup today completed their concurrent and thorough review of the federal process and has confirmed the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is safe and efficacious. U.S. CDC Committee of Independent Health Experts Recommends Vaccination with Pfizer and Biontech COVID-19 Vaccine for Persons Ages 16 Years and Older

New York & Mainz, Germany... Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) and BioNTech SE (Nasdaq: BNTX) announced today that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted today to recommend the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in people 16 years of age and older under the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This ACIP vote follows the December 1, 2020, ACIP recommendation for a Phase 1a rollout where first priority of COVID-19 vaccines is given to health care personnel treating patients, and residents in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

Governor Newsom on FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization for a COVID-19 Vaccine

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted an Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this evening: “As California faces reduced ICU capacity, we must remain vigilant over the next few weeks. At the same time, today’s FDA Emergency Use Authorization of a COVID-19 vaccine is a tremendous step toward safe and equitable vaccine distribution in California. Through the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup, our scientists and experts have worked concurrently with the federal process to review the safety and efficacy of a COVID-19 vaccine and we anticipate the Workgroup’s recommendations within 48 hours.

USFS Closes Developed Campgrounds on Four Additional National Forests

Vallejo, CA...USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region has decided to close developed campgrounds on four additional National Forests in California to provide consistent COVID-19 mitigation response in accordance with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Stay-at-Home Orders. The Sacramento Region is being added to the Stay-at-Home Order and, in turn, developed campgrounds will now be closed on the Eldorado NF, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Plumas NF, and Tahoe NF. These Regional Orders will be in effect from December 11, 2020, through January 6, 2021.

Calaveras Public Health Reports 54 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Friday, December 11, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed 54 additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. To date, Calaveras Public Health reports a total of 642 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 536 cases have since recovered while 84 cases remain active. There have been a total of 22 confirmed deaths related to COVID-19 reported in Calaveras County.

30 New Covid Cases in Tuolumne County Reported Today

San Andreas, CA...Tuolumne County is reporting 30 new COVID-19 cases today, 6 are Sierra Conservation Center inmates and 24 are community cases. All of the new community cases appear to be isolating at home. Four previously isolating individuals are now hospitalized. 43 individuals have been released from isolation. We are sad to report the death of a female in her 80s who was a resident of a local care facility. The Public Health team sends it’s condolences to her family and friends. Today’s new cases include: Under 20: Males - 1 Females - 2 20s: Males – 2 Females - 1 30s: Males – 1 Females - 1 40s: Males – 1 Females - 2 50s: Males – 0 Females - 1 60s: Males – 2 Females –3 70s: Males – 1 Females - 5 80s: Males – 1 Females - 0 90s: Males – 0 Females –0
