Not only did Jerry have a legendary basketball career he literally embodies the NBA as it is his profile that is the NBA logo. After his Hall of Fame career was over he became coach of the LA Lakers and then moved to the front office where he built the Magic Johnson Showtime Lakers and then brought Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'neill to LA for another round of championships.

San Andreas, CA...On August 22, 2019, the Calaveras Enterprise published an article that included accusations that the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) discriminated against the Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians (Tribe) when CCWD declined to hire the Tribe for cultural resources monitoring services on the Reach 1 Pipeline Replacement Project currently under construction on Hwy 4. The District categorically denies these accusations, which are based on demonstrably false allegations.

San Andreas, CA...State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara and his staff will host a Town Hall Meeting on Monday September 16, 2019 at 6 pm. The Town Hall will be held at San Andreas Town Hall, 24 Church Hill Road, San Andreas, CA. The Insurance Commissioner will present about the current state of getting and maintaining homeowner’s insurance in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). This informational discussion will provide statewide trend data, consumer protection laws update and risk reduction through prevention and mitigation. The public is invited to attend and share personal experiences with insurance nonrenewal and rate increases with the Commissioner and his staff. San Andreas, CA...The Registrar of Voters has opted to adopt the Voter’s Choice Act Election Model. The draft Election Administration Plan (EAP) was released on August 9th. The EAP outlines the county’s proposal on how to facilitate an All-Mail/Vote Center election and the various changes in policy and procedure that accompany the transition. Consultations and informational meetings were held in August related to the Voter’s Choice Act. A public comment period for the first draft of the EAP ends September 12, 2019, and a public hearing to consider the proposed EAP will be held on September 13, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.

Sacramento, CA...Lawmakers on Thursday sent Gov. Gavin Newsom a measure eliminating the California Posse Comitatus Act of 1872. The nearly 150-year-old law makes it a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1,000 for failing to help police make an arrest or catch a fleeing suspect.

Santa Barbara, CA...At approximately 3:30 a.m., Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard and partnering agencies responded to a vessel fire off the north shore of Santa Cruz Island near Platt’s Harbor in Santa Barbara County. Emergency responders encountered “Conception”, a 75-foot commercial diving boat based out of the Santa Barbara Harbor, fully engulfed in fire. The vessel sank to the ocean floor at approximately 7:20 a.m.
