Yorba Linda, CA...(The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum) GOVERNOR WILSON: Well, thank you very much, Chris. Most generous. I’m not sure your grandfather would have recognized me. I have the great pleasure – in addition to welcoming all of you to the Nixon birthplace and library, I have the great pleasure of introducing to you an extraordinary American who is here at an extraordinary time. But the fun of it is in introducing our honored guest, I also am welcoming him not just to the Nixon Library, but I’m welcoming him back home to Orange County. (Applause.) That’s right. Mike Pompeo was born in Orange. (Applause.)

California Passes New York for Most COVID-19 Cases

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/23/2020 10:30 AM
Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Public Health today announced the most recent statistics on COVID-19.
  • California’s positivity rate – a key indicator of community spread – is trending upward in the 14-day average.
  • Hospitalization rates are also trending upward in the 14-day average.
  • Numbers may not represent true day-over-day change as reporting of test results can be delayed, and the 7-day average more accurately describes trends in number of cases. The 7-day average number of new cases is 9,420 per day. The 7-day average from the week prior was 8,309. California has 413,576confirmed cases to date.
  • There have been 6,664,998 tests conducted in California. This represents an increase of 127,487 over the prior 24-hour reporting period. As testing capacity continues to increase across the state, an increase in the number of positive cases has been expected – increasing the importance of positivity rates to find signs of community spread.
  • There have been 7,870 COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
  • A total of 33 counties are required to close indoor operations for certain sectors based on the July 13 order to slow community transmission.
