Forest Service & Mule Deer Foundation Forest Fuels Reduction Project Underway in Arnold-Avery Area

Arnold, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest, Calaveras Ranger District, is beginning the Arnold-Avery Healthy Forest Fuels Reduction Project under a shared stewardship agreement with the Mule Deer Foundation. The 800-acre project borders the communities of Arnold and Avery, located within the wildland-urban interface, or WUI, and includes heavily used sections of the Arnold Rim Trail. The project will use fuel reduction treatments, including mastication and hazardous tree abatement and will continue into next year. Click below for full sized map of the Arnold-Avery project.

Amador County, CA... Scott Hunkins, President of the Amador County Teachers Association (ACTA), with the support of the classified unit led by Theresa Cramer, released the following statement on behalf of ACTA educators after hearing the Amador County Health Officer, Dr. Kerr, inform the Amador County Board of Supervisors that case rates are becoming more widespread. With this information, ACTA is requesting an emergency meeting with the Board and Amador County Unified School District (ACUSD) management to avoid a premature reopening date of Monday, November 16.

Caltrans Now Offers Temporary Permits for Businesses to Operate on State Highway Right of Way

Sacramento, CA... Restaurants, retailers and other businesses are eligible to temporarily operate on the state highway right of way (ROW) under permits available from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). These permits follow Governor Gavin Newsom’s October 28 Executive Order N-83-20 directing Caltrans to develop a process for issuing temporary permits to cities and counties so businesses located along state highways can expand dining and retail options onto sidewalks and parking areas where safe.

Calaveras Public Health Reports 7 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed seven additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. COVID-19 cases include two females and one male between 18-49 years of age, two females and one male between 50-64 years of age, and one female over the age of 65. District 1 has four cases to report and District 5 has three cases to report. There no new cases to report in the remaining Districts.
