Spectacular Kids Show Planned for Fair

ANGELS CAMP – The decks of a 25-foot-long paddlewheel steamboat will explode with a national marionette show at this year’s Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Mitchell Marionettes will be featured in KidZone three times each day of the Fair, May 13 – 16, 2010. KidZone is a child-centered activity area that is fully sponsored by Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital....

Frogtown, CA...The Friends of the Fair are at it again with a Wiskerino Dinner & Dance that will be held on May 1st at Frogtown. There are lots of different categories including...Full Beard, Mustache, Most Effort for Least Results, Couples, Family, Man and Woman. So let it all go and have some fun on May 1st....

CHP's R.A.I.D Program Visited Calaveras Last Weekend ~By John Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...We had the pleasure of seeing CHP's Rapid Apprehension of Impaired Drivers or RAID program in action. We stopped by the CHP Office in San Andreas on Saturday evening to see them in action. The local CHP office brought additional Officers, Motorcycle Units, Screening Equipment and even their own in house Phlebotomist from their air medical crew for blood draws. CHP Officer Jaimie Castillo and even some visiting officers from other areas were gracious enough to fill in some of the details for us....

Frogtown, CA...It was a reunion of local high society at Frogtown on Saturday eve. It was also a labor of love for a past Miss Calaveras Kathy Mazzaferro and was the beginning of what will no doubt become one of the premier "Fair Season" events in Calaveras County. The 1st Annual Coronation Ball brought together past fair royalty and showcased the current contestants in the Miss Calaveras and Saddle Queen Competitions. Kathy Mazzaferro has been leading the charge over the last several years to keep tabs on the lives and whereabouts of our local past royalty...

Frogtown, CA...The 2009 Media Night was held at Frogtown last night. There were Saddle Queens and Beauty Queens, Frogs, Speeches, Awards and More.The Fair's Marketing Director Laurie Giannini moderated the festivities and went over the highlights of this year's fair with a video presentation to kick things off. This years theme is "Love Me Timber" and the fair will pay tribute to the local timber industry throughout the run. The community support behind the fair this year has been huge Many individuals and organizations have stepped up to the make this year to be what many feel will be the best Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee yet...

Angels Camp, CA...The 2009 Saddle Queen contestants polished their public speaking at the latest Chamber Mixer. The contestants did a great job speaking for the good sized crowd at Camps. Saddle Queen program organizer Michelle Lee was on hand to introduce the program and the Reigning Saddle Queen Kayte Lowry led off the speeches with the field of Chelsea Flores, Catheryn Gulizia, Katelyn McConahy, Holly Moore, and Kathryn Stephens each taking their turn at the mike. The 2009 Saddle Queen Competition gets the arena events started this year at 1pm on Thursday. Make sure you attend and watch these girls in action...

Frogtown USA, CA...At the Calaveras County Fair Board meeting last week we heard about all of the plans underway to make the 2009 Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee a big success. Those in attendance couldn't help but be impressed with the intense efforts by the staff and also the hard working volunteer groups. The dividends from the community outreach the fair started last year are starting to pay huge dividends....

Frogtown, USA...At last nights Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee Board Meeting, The Carnival Concessionaire that was involved in last years County Fair accident, made a presentation to the Board outlining improvements and health and safety measures taken to ensure safe and enjoyable carnival operations at the fair this year. Following the presentation, the Board voted unanimously to give the Concessionaire a vote of confidence for carnival operations this year....

Since cowboys are such an important part of the history and heritage of Calaveras County, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the cowboy with a Barbecue Dinner and Dance. The National Day of the American Cowboy.....
