Angels Camp, CA....The theme of this year’s Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee honors “The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain,” and what kind of celebration would it be without some of Mark Twain’s best-loved characters along for the party? The KidZone is offering Calaveras County youngsters a chance to be a part of the this year’s festivities with the first Tom and Becky Costume Contest, happening on Thursday, May 13th, at 1:00 pm on the KidZone stage......

Altaville, CA....The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump will be held concurrently on Saturday, May 8 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire Department in Angels Camp. Twelve Applicants to Vie for Jr. Miss Calaveras County
The Junior Miss Calaveras competition is open to 8th grade girls in Calaveras county. The contestants are judged on beauty, personality, pleasantness and ticket sales by a panel of judges. The winner will be announced during the Junior Frog jump and she will be presented at the Calaveras County Fair the next week....

Angels Camp, CA....Kidz of all ages, it’s time to celebrate! The all-free, all-fun KidZone is returning to the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee for the second year, running Thursday May 13th through Sunday May 16th. Combining arts, education, fun, games and frogs, the KidZone was a hit with last year’s fair attendees, and this year it promises to bring a whole new level of entertainment to the Calaveras County Fair.....

| Angels Camp, CA....With excitement building for the May 13-16, 2010 Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, residents should take note of the following entry deadlines. All Livestock, Horse Show, Wine, Junior and Adult entries are due on Saturday April 17, the fair office will be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.“If you drew it, grew it or sewed it youth entry forms are due with the actual entry on May 4 & 5. There are openings for the Calaveras Idol Competition. The entry deadline is April 30. The Ropin’ & Wranglin’ events will be open to competitors until the individual event is full.... |

Frogtown, USA....The young ladies who are running for Miss Calaveras or Saddle Queen will be joining Miss Calaveras 2009, Kayla Smith and, Saddle Queen 2009, Catheryn Gulizia, and their respective courts as the featured guests at this years Coronation Ball to be held on associated with the Fair. The Angels-Murphys Rotary, long a dedicated sponsor of the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant, will again be manning the no-host bar. The evening will include a buffet dinner catered by the Angels Mercantile. ...

Angels Camp, CA....More than two dozen spectacular carnival rides are expected to descend upon Frogtown May 13 through May 16 when a new carnival promoter arrives for the 81st annual Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. Perennial favorites – the Zipper, Gravitron, Tornado and Silver Streak – will be joined by a ride new to the fair: The Super Shot. If you like The Drop Tower Scream Zone at California’s Great America in Santa Clara then you’ll love The Super Shot. Paul Maurer Shows, of Huntington Beach, CA, was chosen by the fair’s board of directors based upon the company’s safety record, clear inspections from Cal-OSHA and the company’s willingness to offer special discounts to county residents. “I was impressed that every employee performs a daily check-off inspection of their ride before the gates are opened,” said Stephen Kautz, fair board president.....

"Celebrating the Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain" is this year's theme. All youth between the ages of infant to 18 years of age are invited to participate in the parade. Angels Camp, CA.....Seven bright talented young women will be competing for the title of Miss Calaveras and a $1,000 scholarship. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the stage competition at the Calaveras County Fair. The Program offers more than $2,700 in scholarship monies for contestants. In April the seven contestants will begin a rigorous rehearsal schedule. They will be schooled in interview skills, etiquette, public speaking and talent. The competition comprises of four areas of focus, personal interview, health and fitness, evening gown and talent. ANGELS CAMP – The decks of a 25-foot-long paddlewheel steamboat will explode with a national marionette show at this year’s Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee.
